When a person forms an opinion while growing up, that opinion stays with that person for a long time. So I think Mariyam formed an opinion about her family not getting her married to a guy from outside the family. They put efforts but she can't completely trust her family because of her opinion. May be that's why she is stubborn to elope. She knew her family that's why she could not trust that they would actually get her married to Anas who is from outside the family.
