Ofc they had to check with him still around. It's like an entire handover process! You have the best skipper in the world leading you, and suddenly you're not gonna have him anymore. Obviously you gotta take pointers and see how well you handle it. Out of all of them, Jadeja has probably observed and played with Dhoni the most, so I thought he might slip into the role smoothly, esp with Dhoni showing him the ropes. But unfortunately aisa hua nahi. Some ppl just aren't meant for captaincy. They crumble under that burden. Sachin was a prime example of this.

I also think Rahane is the next option. Rutu is still too young 🥺

He is still not fully fit. He said in last match.
