If we can accept toxic male leads (Shamsher- he was a druggie, probably had killed or seriously wounded people before, and physically abusive- suddenly had a change of heart because he learns his father tried to kill his wife and in the process killed the innocent driver) then we should be able to accept an egoistic, selfish, dumb female lead who later has a transformation.
BUTâŠif they donât intend to show her as Murtasimâs childhood love, I canât get over Murtasimâs lack of a real reason to fall for her so deeply. Donât tell me love is irrational, it just happens, it happens only once, blah blah. Itâs not and itâs quite voluntary. Love takes effort. I have a much easier time buying that heâs instead just infatuated with his newly wedded wife thanks to her beauty, his hormones, their proximity and her challenge.Second- this writer probably personally doesnât know any city girls and any who pursue higher education/professional degrees because she really didnât think her character through. Someone who aspires to study law has no ounce of critical thinking and rationality no matter how pampered she grew up? For gods sake- it seemed like she used to go to Waqasâs office and sit in on briefings. Did she not learn anything lol. How very strange.
Yeh cheezein hazam nahi ho rahi. But I really want to know..the writer wrote her story-great. However, a dozen people including the creative heads, directories, actors may have read the story before it went into production. Are changes to script not allowed? Surely more than one person mustâve thought this doesnât make full sense and couldâve modified the story or certain events? What am I missing here? Or maybe we are indeed judging it all too early
Honestly, what Shamsher did wasn't justified nor was it ok. He had the realization and he wanted to change but that doesn't undo his past behavior...not at all. It was not okay then and it's not okay now.
I doubt they will show Meerub as his childhood love or any other explanation. As far as, how he fell for her so deeply? There's no answer to it and I guess that's what love is. Beyond logic, beyond rational. For some people, it's an organig process where the love keeps growing but for some it just happens. Fortunately or unfortunately, emotions have no metrics attached. No check boxes.
What you said about the city girl character is so apt. She wants to be a lawyer but has no critital thinking whatsoever. So many red flags but she ignored it all. But I guess that is Meerub for us. Her character is flawed, in a lot of ways. I am trying to not link her dream of becoming a lawyer with her actions (for reasons I mentioned yesterday on how the show is proving women shouldn't be given the power to make decisions for themselves and their family).
My two cents on Meerub's character:
Her character was introduced as a free spirited girl who dreamt of becoming a lawyer, someone who was headstrong but also a little spoilt. A brat. She never took well when the decision wasn't in her favour. Never. Be it her playing the victim card for the forced married (equally forced on Murtasim but that was ignored). Whenever someone listens to her or does what she says, her reaction is always sweet and accepting but the moment it goes haywire, she doesn't take it well. Ego, bigger than MB and Murtasim. In the entire Mariyam epispde, it was always about her promise, her goal, her pov. She blatantly neglected/ignored the fact that KMK met the guy (out of his character) for her and his sister's sake. He had no reason to lie about the brothel thing. But she ignored that. Someone had pointed it out that when she went there, she didn't see the brothel and a person tends to believe what they see vs what is told. True, but she saw Ana's mother in the house. Saw her behavior. Why would she ignore that? Because she sees what she wants to, believe what she wants to. Myopic vision and convenience. Initially, I always felt her this behavior was a defense to what happened, the circumstances in which she got to know about her parents, the married. But I guess I was wrong...this is just her personality and not defense.
And not to forget people learn from their mistake when they have the acceptance that they've made a mistake. In Meerub's case, she has never actually accepted her mistake - hence, no growth. Till the time she doesn't learn how to accept her mistakes, how to take ownership of it...she will never learn. And this acceptance and ownership is going to be her redemption.

I love Meerab but I can not forget her kaands, she better stay away from Murtu for sometime. I donât know how she ll make it up for the family. đđ
