As much as I loved all those roothna manana n lovey dovey moments in today's episode, this scene where Me says "Mariyam ka choice hai, acha hi hoga" to her dad n Mu in the living room, hit me hard! A sense of impending doom is so evident in this scene , especially in Mu's face. He seems so desperate to save her from herself before the shit hits the fan. And her naivety in this scene is even more heartbreaking because she is soon going to give up on her naivete ,her optimism and all those endearing qualities!

**Just keenly notice Mu's face in this scene, his expression says it all!

I felt so bad at her navity. She thinks an individual will choose best for her/him more than others.

Her thought process perfectly match for city lifestyle.

But not here.

She will be SO WRONG if she comes into mariyum's manipulation and helps her elope.

By that case she deserves all the consequences she have to face unfortunately.

It's heartbreaking when she smiled like a baby seeing law admission form but choosed to sulk for mariyum sake.

For her mariyum life is more important than her dream.

Little does she know she is fighting for lost battle.

Murtasim won't be wrong in blaming her if she helps mariyam eloping.

Hope he don't think she knows anas being zubair so deliberately did all these.

Upcoming days gonna be hard for meerab both in show and outside.

Ugh yeah… you know this comment actually helps me encapsulate a big issue I have with Meerab’s character/ dialogues. Some naivite is maybe understandable. But there is a fine line between being extremely naive and being straight up dumb. And for a character that is portrayed as supposedly smart and capable, her extreme naïveté in several situations is just not realistic. someone supposedly as smart and capable as her, and an independent and city raised, exposed girl like her would just naturally have some reasoning enter into her soch samaj. So, this line about Maryam knowing best is just soooo ridiculous, not even believably naive, for her character to say.

Meerab herself knows this haveli is a qaid and girls can’t do anything there, resulting in very limited experience with anything outside of the haveli, ESPECIALLY boys- I mean, this is why she didn’t want to even visit that Haveli, let alone get married there. And now suddenly she thinks that Maryam, who is brought up restrictively in pardah, in that qaid, suddenly has the experience and ability to make the right decision about a random guy outside her college? Sorry, but that just doesn’t jive. Yes, people can throw caution and reasoning to the wind when it comes to their own love interests sometimes, but reasoning and logic capabilities are usually present when dealing with non-personal decisions. Especially in a case where you are the elder in the situation, so you have a sense of responsibility to do the right thing. ( Which she obviously did, preventing her from eloping, which was more in line with what I would expect from her character.)

So, what is it? Is Meerab the smart girl we were told / given the impression she was in the beginning episodes, or is she so unrealistically naive that she can’t realistically be that smart at the same time.

Because… you have to have reasoning capabilities and be somewhat smart to be a decent lawyer. And you have to be hyper aware of risks, and consider hidden possibilities and hypotheticals, before coming to decisions and making statements. I dunno…as a lawyer, even thinking about law school days when we weren’t lawyers yet, it was very obvious that these people were naturally risk aware, detail oriented, questioning, and logical minded people to begin with. Even before law school. 🤷‍♀️ Naive is one of the last attributes I would ascribe to these people, when it came to non- personal matters. Some of Meerab’s lines are just so poorly written - if they want us to believe that she truly is capable of studying law.

( And similar analysis applies to idiot Murtasim who of course believes Haya despite her history of delusion and murderous plots and scheming 🙄 - and yet we are told that he is a wise reasonable young man.)

Man… the chemistry must be damn good for me to be continuing this show 36 episodes in! And it is. It really is.

Maryam is the one who is in love, the one tries to who runs away, constantly blackmailing Meerab, all the pressure is on Meerab.

But I loveeeeeeee it because we get to see different shades of her character, and find out what she is made of. How you respond in a crisis says a lot about you?. The timing is just perfect as Murtasim is putting his finishing touches on the Meerab puzzle, when she is almost put back together she will be ruined again. Her OG identity came from her parents they were her anchor to reality which was destroyed, now her husband has made her almost whole again will this version of hers be destroyed too. I have faith Murtasim's Meerab is stronger than the the OG version. Because this version of hers has something that the OG version didn't have.
