Still lgbtq community is looked down upon and the current situation is that whoever comes out they do get support but their lives change for good or bad reasons as far as kjo is concerned it's his personal choice as being in limelight he has to face more backlash than normal human beings because he will be in public eyes and will be available for all the scrutiny .

I think we need to educate people so that the lgbtq com can live in harmony and peace with us but there are so many who makes fun of them, abuses them and starts calling them with absurd names so we need to change ourselves first so that they can feel free and come out openly but it will take a lot of time. India is a devloping country , in other developed countries lgbtq community is not looked upon like in India.

BW has taken on a lot of things that are considered taboo.

Even participated in protests against govt.

So this is not a big deal.

True… B/c it is a MASSIVE DEAL. I’ve seen first-hand, people of our generation, and the way they’re wholly insensitive to gay/bi/lesbian individuals & couples. Forget about the older generations. Gay men are horribly looked down upon &/or beaten up, & gay women are fetishised/abused/beaten up. To actually say “this is not a big deal”, shows you either don’t know many LGBTQ+ people, or you actually think this isn’t a big deal & Idk which is worse.

Apart from Karan who else is gay ?

Karan is quite openly gay though.

He may not be wearing the rainbow flag all over himself but he has hardly tried to be in the closet.
He openly fancied Fawad in KWK.

Also, sexuality is a very private thing. Being gay doesn’t mean you have to be vocal about being gay and uplift others from the same community. That’s not a responsibility per se upon all of them.

I said speaking out on this issue by people in POWER is not a big deal.

Bollywood has made films in past which showed LGBTQIA people. Likes of Onir speak a lot about this.

So it is not like they cannot speak. I am NOT comparing them to ordinary people from these sections of society.

Rather common LGBTQIA people and activists, bloggers, lawyers are speaking MORE about it in real life and online compared to totally silent BW biggies.

I am proud of Yes we Exist India campaign for eg for documenting every bit of this case and filing cases against anyone promoting homophobia.

Karan caricatures gay people in his films though. I did not like caricatures in SOTY or Kantaben jokes in KHNH.

He may not have done anything to uplift gay people but he did do damage by caricaturing them.

Ekta did same through Bobby Darling's caricaturish character in her top serial Saas bhi kabhi bahu thi.

Bar council's recent views are just sad.

There is internalised homophobia. Even people in bollywood, who are gay, talk less about their orientation and don't even properly depict homosexuality onscreen. These bollywood folks themselves consider it as taboo. I don't expect them to talk freely about homosexuality as they themselves not sure to come out.
