A job well done to mnx12 and congratulations to Armu4eva. I am sure you’ve earned (and will continue to earn) every penny of these high paying positions 😊

As step 3, may I propose stopping the transport of sewage from Bollywood forums? DM is not a treatment plant. Just because some vacuous “SRK” topic has political overtones does not automatically mean its debatable and has earned its place in DM. But, if you must import, please create a chat thread and flush it all there.

Best wishes!

Right now.. Supreme Court Case is going on in India on ‘Same Sex Marriage’. Judges and lawyers are debating on it if it is to be made legal in India..

Are we going to have a topic on this in IF?

it would be better when it's time for the judgement.. rn hearing is going on..

Judgement is most likely to come in June, after the summer vacation. So around that time. It will also be Pride month.

Marriage equality isn't something really debatable tbh, it's a basic right, all adults should have it.

I made a poll + discussion topic to debate the mechanism rather than the imperative for marriage equality.

Agree with what you said. 👍🏼

@BOLD:

I never knew that judgement is later on.. in June. I thought we’ll get judgement right after the hearing is over

it's a constitutional bench, means there will be constitutional amendments, most likely. May is vacation of the court so it will be late.

If there is same sex marriage ,should they be allowed to adopt child of opposite sex ? what do you all feel about this ?

Currently, India's laws do not discriminate on the basis of sex, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, or cohabitation status when someone individually adopts a child, right?

One question that the Court is considering is whether hypothetically legally married same-sex couples should be able to adopt children jointly, as opposite-sex couples can. Likewise, could a child's biological parent remain a legal parent while extending legal parenthood to the same-sex partner through adoption?

It would be an outrageous violation of human rights to create the new restriction that you imagined: upon marriage, two men would both lose their individual right to adopt a daughter, and two women would both lose their individual right to adopt a son. It would also be difficult to enforce if a person comes out and marries after already adopting.

Aren't most bigots more disturbed by the idea of same-sex couples adopting a child of the same sex?
