You're absolutely right about comic books/graphic novels...my private library has more than hundred (mainly francophone authors/cartoonists).

My interest in book subjects is 'all over the place' - from 'light' fiction to 'high' literature. And I have kind of times with a preference for a genre (at the moment it's for thrillers/crime novels like Michael Connelly, Michael Robotham, Elzabeth George, Val McDermid, Harlan Coben, Donna Leon, Scott Turow, Stieg Larsson ...(the nordic ones I read in German, the other ones in English). It's my second period...as a youngster I had read the crime novels from many authors of my mother's time like Patricia Highsmith, Agatha Christie, Dorothy Sayers, Chandler, Upfield, P-D- James, Rex Stout...oh so, so many different writers (impossible to name all whose stories' world I adore(d) to enter again and again)...

But back to topic:

Actually, if Kajol feels the need to talk about this topic, she will choose what to say...what imports HER to say.

To ME, it has no importance as - in the first place - the colour of her skin wasn't of any interest to me. When I met her in real life, I experienced a beautiful and outspoken woman with a special charisma and eager to laugh. 😊

What I find much more questionable are those kind of advertisements where white skin is hailed as one of the things to get success and happiness in life... (one of those endorsement SRK did which I very much disliked)

omg, and I always thought Kajol as someone who is a very honest & transparent person, and a level headed one.

But this dhoop may kaam aur raang Kaala GORA, plus the Aids equalent to common cold which Dexy stated above in her post, makes me think about her so differently now.

Now I can understand from where Nysa got those "padhna toh Itta achcha" waalay genes

Herge, Uderzo, and Goscinny? Those are the only ones I know.

I am a sucker for teen lit. Rainbow Rowell, John Green, Becky Albertalli, Malinda Lo and the classic teenage YA series like Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Narnia, Divergent, etc.

I do like thrillers as well. I've devoured Gillian Flynn's books and Stieg Larsson. I liked Devil in the White CIty (and was thoroughly creeped by it) and have meant to read more Erik Larson.

I couldn't complete 50 shades beyond a few chapters and hate read Twilight series. While I will read YA romance, I cannot stand grown-up romances. Mills and Boon, nope. Even Georgette Heyer and Jane Austen are dull for me. The only way I semi-read Austen is Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters. I couldn't read Gone with the Wind either and hate the movie with a passion.

I do like Sarah Waters Victorian romances and Jacqueline Carey's fantasy erotica. I guess.....regular romance is just too boringly heterosexual for me.

There are a lot of hyped books I had/have no interest to read (50 shades is one of them and the Twighlight series, too), but I like erotic novels (e.g. Emanuelle, Fanny Hill, Forbidden Colors, Henry & June...) and I read a French publication of the Indian Kamasutra, some writings of de Sade and some books of famous gay/lesbian/bisexual writers. As for vampires, I prefer movies to novels (Bram Stoker's Dracula is an exception).

Strangely, I also read a lot of teen literature like Elizabeth George's Whisper Island series or Harlan Coben's Mickey Bolitar series or Tamora Pierce's Alanna series (and the German Margit Auer "The School of Magical Animals" books) and if I read now about romantic love of grown-ups, then it's more in form of historic-biographic books or part of the thrillers/crime novels. Harry Potter is something the kids and I read together, watching the respective movie after every novel. We've just finished tome 5 (the reading takes some time as each one of the family reads a chapter to all of us but except during holidays, we can do this only on weekends). The eldest has now started to reread Harry Potter in English.

Even if she did it's her choice. We all want to be looked in a certain way and if we can afford to do it we would do anyway.

Off topic but How Bebo called Bips Kaali Billi and not Kajol is a thought that came to my mind😆

Sitting at home is still a believable answer. In one of the podcasts with BeerBiceps, Kajol mentioned that positive thought and drinking water is secret to her radiant skin If Yami or Tamanna had given such answer, we could atleast believe but with all the skin whitening treatments listening to such answer is hilarious.🤪
