That's an interesting take.
My assumption was that when Merub said tum bhi, she was not thinking of R per se but was approaching the jaan dena question in a way to not seem vulnerable (upar se aana chah rahi thi).
If you see the scene, when she first asked the jaan dena question (in the third person), her tone was contemplative. But when it came time to ask Murtasim directly if he loves her enough to give his life for her, her tone was different. She had stiffened and sounded defiant.
