I think because Murtasim isn’t portrayed as a liberal, open minded women’s rights advocate. He is a feudal lord who believes in traditions. We know these flaws about him and they are in line with his character so it doesn’t shock us. It’s kind of what we signed up for seeing all the previews. He has made changes over time and has become less regressive and Meerab has been the driving force behind this. For him arranged marriages are the norm and it’s probably all he saw growing up. Also, I don’t think it’s a woman vs. man’s consent issue for him. He had an arranged marriage himself but he made sure to get Meerab’s consent before marrying her. If he does force Mariam to marry that guy then I’m sure most people will agree that it’s wrong but I still don’t think it will be a woman’s consent issue…I think it’s just an overall consent issue. Don’t get me wrong, there is definitely sexism issue in that household that Murtasim is a part of but I don’t think that’s the main issue here. His own wedding announcement was made publicly before anyone spoke to him about it.

I think people are tougher on Meerab because everyone is so invested in her relationship with Murtasim. This is a love story after all. No one is that invested in Murtasim’s relationship with his sister so they’re not as tough on Murtasim if he screws up there because no one really cares. Everyone’s attention is on Meerab and Murtasim’s relationship…it’s why most people are watching this. We want their relationship to progress. You see Murtasim falling head over heels with his wife and stands up for her against anyone and she isn’t reciprocating the same. I understand where she is coming from and even when I feel frustrated with her, I can never hate her. I can’t hate either of them. I think this is the main story so people aren’t fixated on their relationships with others and aren’t as critical of them when evaluating those relationships. Everyone is focused on Meerab and Murtasim’s relationship with each other so I think people are more critical of them when it comes this relationship. I really think that’s all it is.

They’re both flawed in my opinion but I love both characters!

The thing that murtasim being a feudal lord is constant justification for his actions where he doesn't consider woman consent.

I am saying women because he dragged a woman in his izzat mess.

He has constant justification for his regressive actions.

His dreams r snatched

It doesn't mean he has the right to suggest marriage as a solution when elders discussing how to stop meerab from pursuing her dream.

It doesn't mean he has the right to expect from meerab to adjust by forgetting her old life like how he got adjusted.

He faced forced marriage

It doesn't mean he is right in not minding his own sister having forced marriage.

Same. Both characters have their issues…and they will issue more issues 😆… but hopefully issue a baby soon after 😂

Especially when we support meerub so much regarding her personal history in her behaviour with her partner whom she knows.

So you should stick to that and you don't even know me personally.
