I am confused what to feel about Lalita's character. On one side, I loathe the way she treats Tara, but on the other side, she seems to be someone who knows how to love.
She's loyal, ready to fight, ready to speak up and is clear in her decisions and actions and even in her words. She can be bold and out there, and those are qualities I all admire.
But at the same time, she seems to be close to change, not ready to listen, and not ready to consider other possibilities. She seemed to let Susheela get away with whatever she wants, and I am not sure if it's because she thinks it's right or whether she is just too "loyal" to say anything.
As far as ITV taiji's go, Lalita is practically gold! Where else would you find a positive character whose son loathes the ML 😆
Both Susheela and Lalita are a bit classist though, which is unfortunate, but not uncommon in Indian circles (especially tier 2 cities 😔).
I think one episode had Susheela feeding Tara cake (that had already fallen down if I remember 🤢), and she keeps on harping on the "naukrani" part while getting angry about the marriage. Pretty sure she'd have been singing a different tune from the beginning if she knew T was a real queen.
I can understand why Lalita lets Susheela get away with a few things- unlike L, whose space in the house is pretty much cemented, Susheela is on flimsier ground (husband ran away, son is not hers by blood), and such folks tend to develop a victim complex in such situations. So, as the stronger person, you pander to the other a bit in the hope that they feel happy, recognised and part of the family.
