People watch films for entertainment first. Ranbir has only one form of entertainment to offer and that is overgrown manchild whining in front of dad, mom or GF or singing songs at wedding of GF.

Nobody gives a damn about Barfi.

Performance wise also, everyone knows Ranbir is incapable of doing a Khilji or Bajirao and never even attempted a period film because even he knows he is mainly an urban actor.

He has no gravitas to pull off period films or do a solid villain or play ruthless invader.

His performances are all about either mentally challenged manchild, lovelorn manchild, druggie manchild - bazillion different types of manchild coming of age.

Well Ranbir is not new either. He had been in the industry for 16-17 years and no current hero had been in the industry for 40 years. Maximum time might be 30-35 years.

Barfi in 2012 was the 100+ crossing film and Ranbir gave his best performance along with Priyanka in that movie.From your mass actor Amir to Filfare everybody praised his acting and he own best actor award as well. Give Kartik a performance based role and then talk how the kid does.

I think it was the fifth highest grossing film of 2012

Couple of years back similar titles about Ranveer Singh were floating around but at least he was having real box office success at that time.

Content is the real superstar now, thankfully. Gone or the days when mediocrity and hamming were worshipped. #facts

Superstar era ended with Hrithik, post that content is the real superstar.
