my husband's nephew recently moved to melbourne and I know he reached out to some indian community social media page and through that was able to find a really nice rental place for cheap too. Nitya, anyway show is crap, may be we should start a separate thread and learn, you can teach us sankethi(not sure if the language is known by any other name) and we will teach you kannada. I can read and write too, not as good as I used to be, but I can still manage.

Not sure if I told you this earlier, one of my aunt(my dad's sister) is married to a sankethi, thats how I am familiar with the language but could never understand it.

Same here... But my dhadhi. Nani in Mumbai watch it... They switch channels and watch shows that come at same time....

Post show discussions bhi chaltha hai...

Unka toh Telugu aur hindi.... Both they see....

Infact they have assigned task like this...

Dhadhi to nani.... Aap eh show dhekhiye....

Main yeh dhekthi hoon....baadh mein discuss karenge....

Kyun ek hi show dhekne mein time waste kare....

Oh god they are too addicted...

I have a friend from college who speaks Sanketi. Coincidently she also lives in Australia 😆

Wow...that exists everywhere...different parts of every state we see different variations of the state language or totally new languages.

I just know to speak Tamil....neither read nor write as I only visit TN always.

Had to learn but never found the motive....I speak good Tamil though thanks to my family who always encouraged mother tongue at home along with local languages learnt in school.

My mom grew up in Bangalore...she knows to speak/read/write both Tamil and Kannada pretty well...but for her Marathi has been tough and for me it's ulta...Marathi I know to speak/read/write well, so much so that people generally mistake me for a Maharashtrian😆
