Coincidentally, both Divya and Sri were reported to drink a lot to the point of passing out.

One theory about Divya was also that she was too drunk and fell off terrace as she passed out.

True if u search on google there is one article about divya parents fighting legal case for LIC death settlement in that it was written as per autopsy report there was some drug found in her drink and court refused additional death claim coz of that reason this article was in times of india

She was in lot of hurry doing so many things at one time movies marriage family responsibility

She fell from 5th floor of rented flat she was living at that time it was late night and in a matter of few seconds it was all over

There are "lead roles" and there are "supporting roles". Laadla was anyways remake of a popular South film, and the roles were clearly well-defined way before the Hindi version was conceived.

So Raveena knew from Day 1 that she was playing the supporting role. This was before Mohra days. She wasn't that big of a star back then.

Amongst the new comers, Divya was miles ahead. She mostly played lead roles even in multi-starers like Vishwatma. Even in Rang (1993), Ayesha Jhulka played the supporting role opposite Divya.

Stardom-wise, Divya was nowhere close to Sridevi or Madhuri btw in the early 90s.

But few dynamics just confuses me

for example:

How Raveena and Divya got totally equal roles in Kshatriya in 1993 and then how and why Raveena accepted such a faaltu and such short role opposite Divya in Laadla? though both films' shootings were around the Same time line.

Divya only gave one true hit in Deewana among 11 films in 2 years, how come she was so popular then, as her acting was also not earth shattering as well and box-office wise as well she delivered just one super hit among all of her films.

As far as Ayesha jhulka playing secondary to Divya in Rang, but the same Ayesha Jhulka had 1993 release DHANWAAN where Karishma played SECONDARY to Ayesha Jhulka while Ayehsa was the main heroine, although Karishma gave two super hits prem qaidi and Anari prior to DHANWAAN while Ayesha had just one hit Khiladi and was an outsider, while Lolo was from kapoor family.

These things and dynamics just confuses me 🙄

Divya was popular may be coz of her debut song saat samundar then deewana shola shabnam

She had super flops too like geet dil ashna hai one with arman kohli and some other forgettable movies

Raveena too was new and she wanted to rise up so these 90s actresses were doing lot of movies at the same time

yeah that's what I thought, as even her flops benefited her like flop vishwatma with Saat sumandar Paar song and a flop dil ka kya qusoor although got failed at box-office but had a lot of liking by people for some reason.

Her clean super hit was only Deewana, rest all were either flops and 2 films were semi hits or above average. (film with armaan was dushman zamaana)

Surprisingly Divya did 11 films in just 1.5 years of her short career while Raveena only had 2 movies in 2 years, 1991 Patthar Ke phool and 1992 Jeena marna tere sang... even Karishma and kajol hardly had 3 or 4 films maximum at starting 2 initial years of their careers unlike 11 films of Divya in less then 2 years before she died.

Not to mention she looked a lot like her. That def worked as PR tactic in terms of getting her movies. And she seemed far to hard working to have a drinking problem. She completed 11 movies in two years that is record.

Her death intrigued me. Even though she died when I was less than 2. So I read up on her. Someone once told me I and my sister resemble her that is why.

Lulz. Divya herself admitted in an interview that she drank and she and Somy also tried pot, some drugs etc. Somy also admitted to trying all stuff when they were young and called it folly of that age. I appreciated their honesty in their interviews whose scans I read online some years ago.

Who says one cannot do films or complete projects if they drink or try drugs? Sanjay Dutt, Deepika, Ranbir, Ranveer, Salman etc all did work despite reports of whatever they tried. Divya was not an addict though but she was known to be a wild child like Manisha Koirala, with partying and trying drinks, all sorts of stuff, weed ,pot besides having tantrum issues. Aamir called her unprofessional after she gave everyone hard time during a stage show. And refused to work with her.

Divya was too young and got too much at too young age, and was not that formally educated or grounded. It seems she got carried away by fame and stardom or attention she got at such a young age and all comparisons to resemblance with Sridevi. She was fairly immature if articles of that time are anything to go by, which is a given, considering her young age.

She dropped out of school/college to work and her parents pushed her in industry. Hard work is a given then if one manages to get so much work at young age and parents are also pushy.

I guess she had a unique charm to her persona

Kuch toh tha as she was the most popular among new girls despite not having such a great box-office record, producers used to line up for her to be signed that's what I read in most magazines
