Earthcon is the leading firm before Kathaa joined .Viaan was always shown as talented ceo .

His father might have started it , but there are many firms which shut down as soon as the next generation take over .

Viaan is about to loose Dubai project because of his ego. It is shown many people will lose their job if they didn't get Dubai heritage project. I don't think he is more talented or smarter than Katha. He even can't give presentation alone. LOL.

Did Viaan ask why she need money? If Viaan can ask for ONS without knowing then it is possible he would ask for multiple night stand considering she anyway need it and will do it.

In real life there is chance .

But here anyways he was shown so much guilty when he came to know about the truth . So he would have helped her to save her son .

yup, it is not coming across that way at all which is why we are having a disconnect. katha should be having internal conflict and other than her initially talking to neeraji, we don't see anything of her thoughts. so rather than showing how she is all over the place, it looks like she is being self-righteous.

this is high live wire type situation. we should be on the edge of our seat worrying about what will happen to viaan just like ehsaan is. however, I feel detached. actually I thought a few times whether to put off watching the episodes and this has been my mood every day this week.

viaan is in the fight for his life in some ways. this isn't some small matter. his honour and integrity is questioned and there will be ripple effects for life in all aspects of his personal and professional life. so this isn't the type to have subtle and muted scenes. it needs to be emotional and we need to feel the urgency. without EK type techniques, a simple way to do that is to have that kind of melodramatic music which adds those feelings.

am not having enough music knowledge to explain myself well but world over, we can recognize happy music, easy listening, sad music and high voltage type music and we don't need to know the lyrics or the culture or the context of the scene. we can tell just by the notes, the spaces between the music notes (speed) and how the instruments are played. the music they have chosen feels easy listening music -- reminds me of walk in the hills after the rains -- type mood. it is not emotionally dramatic. there are no ups and downs and no speeding up and slowing down -- it needs to convey an internal battle. when we have that kind of background music, we immediately feel the drama.

you can have softer more easy type listening music but you still need those ups and downs to convey drama. then that creates a more melo feel. that is missing. if we had that, then we would know how difficult this is for katha without even hearing her thoughts. we can't have subtle muted scenes with music that sounds like quiet time mood. subtle muted romance works when it is set in the middle of the storm -- that makes it more dramatic.

am thinking of BGMs like these that add drama....

You're so right about BGM's adding to the drama. I have always felt that music is a huge part of storytelling and eliciting emotions in both the characters and audience. Without it, shows/movies feel very empty and not as impactful. For a long time I've felt that there is something lacking in these episodes and now that you've pointed it out, I definitely think it's the BGM. I know the makers are trying to keep everything subtle and realistic, but they are really lacking in the BGM department to help the audience connect better with the characters.

Here is the first promo of Katha that I saw and music was definitely a huge part of what attracted me to this show. The vibe that the show gives in this promo with the BGM is just not the same as the episodes we are getting now. That's the vibe that I want to see again.

How will Katha know? She is not audience like us. When she know he is helpful person she already soften towards him and eventually forgive him. But when shamita accused him, she is confused now.

Based on all the conversations, I feel that it's a matter of appreciation and perception. Mango is right in her way. The right music would have elevated the scenes. I watched Zindagi Gulzar Hai recently. I was shocked that I sat through the initial eps where there wasn't much happening but realised afterwards that I was pulled in by the story, characters and acting. Till date I can't let go of the characters. I miss Zaroon and Kashaf.

I feel like the KA team leans more towards subtle than the overly dramatic. As someone who watches mostly American stuff and reads a lot, I am fine with story telling which takes its time and takes time on building up the characters. I personally feel that the writers know where they are headed and how they want to get there. I doubted them when they turned Ehsan into a vamp and when they started the love realization track of Viaan but they turned both situations around. I am someone who can accept grey characters for they reflect reality most aptly. I am in for this ride but feel concerned that so many people are feeling disconnected from the show. We keep claiming that we want quality programmes but when we get them, there's still a section of the audience which is unhappy. It's tough to find the middle ground. I am not criticising anyone but just sharing my thoughts. All of us are free to like or dislike something based on our expectations.

Shalzie,

I typed out a message earlier, not sure where it went. But just want to say, well said. I love subtleties- the eyes, the face, the body language. Makes everything more real. So couldn’t agree more.
Flawed characters make a story interesting! They give us stuff to talk about. 😀 So bring it on. I don’t want a perfect Katha or a perfect Viaan. It is a journey for them individually and together to learn or unlearn the past and thread forward slowly. I am in!

The way she is trying to make him feel guilty is not accepted .

I think the reason she hid why she needed the money is because of her own FIL. He refused giving money to save his own grandson so she probably didn't want to let go of this offer in case Viaan would have taken it back because it's not like Viaan has any relation with them or he was obliged to save his son. That being said, Katha was still wrong for hiding the truth from Viaan when he clearly asked her what makes her think the company will give her that much money. Irl, the way this whole ONS scenario happened is just not possible in today's day and age because no women or even men for that matter would silently accept such offers if there is a legitimate reason. So keep in mind it's just fiction after all.

While this is true, I still think Katha had the option to actually tell the truth and Viaan would have understood. Why do I think that, well because during the night of the ONS, Viaan clearly told her she could walk away if she was uncomfortable. If a person really wants to take advantage of someone's helplessness, they would not be saying such things. When she accepted the offer she didn't tell him the truth fine. But during the actual ONS night, she could have told him the reason and he would probably have given her the money. I've seen the ONS episode multiple times to better understand Viaan and Katha, and I still think Katha made a huge mistake for herself not telling Viaan the truth then and there. Obviously Viaan was still wrong with his proposal but Katha also could have avoided situation herself.

For me there is no existential right or wrong. Right or wrong depend upon something. It could be different for different people. I will only point out right or wrong based on Indian law.

As per workplace law, asking sexual favor in workplace or extended workplace is punishable act. See office is the safest place we consider for woman so that woman can freely work. That's why this rule.

It is not bribery where giver and taker both are doing legally wrong. May be Katha will get fire depend upon company's policy but she hasn't done anything illegal but what Viaan did is illegal.

Also, committee enquire about person past behavior to make judgement. It will be considered as evidence.

Exactly!! I completely agree with your POVs. Indecent proposals anywhere or pushing or emotionally blackmailing somebody to do any kind of acts is punishable. The act of Viaan was disgusting and punishable…From purely how this ITV story is progressing, Viaan’s act still is disgusting, but both made a deal out of it and everything was done with mutual consent. Both should forget about it and would’ve been better if Katha found job elsewhere. If she filed a complaint now, I really hope, Viaan will be punished, at the same time Katha is liable to return the money too…It also can be taken as she took money in return of sexual favor…. This’s discussion can go on and on from different POVs….At the same time Katha justifying unreasonable acts to grab your boss’s attention which is also purely unethical at a workplace. This also falls under punishable act . Nowadays most workplaces have zero tolerance for this things. They could get warned for acts like this, put under probation to be eventually get fired. I am no way supporting Viaan’s proposal, neither do I like Ehsan’s inappropriate behavior towards Katha. It feels like Katha has no problem with Ehsan’s behavior just because it’s sugar coated and smooth. Right now I am confused about the way the story is progressing.

I still wonder why she thought Viaan will fire her if she told them she’s single mother and her son has terminal illness. Who fires for reasons like this nowadays… Also she proved her capability by helping to grab the Dubai heritage and still they would fire her….. The whole thing about Katha hiding all this still looks unreasonable..

Viaan never asked once why she needed money. He even didn't ask why she need money if she is hesitant. That makes him rude and harsh buisnessman who doesn't care about anything, only value for his money. Why would Katha beg for help who is not nice. How it is guaranteed that knowing her condition he will back out from his proposal?

I have seen more crime patrol stories like that. A nurse want some medicine for her husband which is costly. He asked doctor for help and knowing her helplessness he makes a deal to sleep with him everyday for 1 medicine each day.

At that situation it was better for Katha to let the ONS happen.
