A fairly routine win for MI in the end, and this win has taken them to the top of the table, for now. Matthews batted with intent at the start, as did Yastika. Post the powerplay and once both were dismissed, MI found it tough. Well, until Kerr and Vastrakar joined hands and brought them to the cusp of victory. Kerr, in particular, looked composed at the crease and barely broke into a sweat, masterminding what could have been a tricky run-chase.

As for RCB, well, they would be ruing their inability to put enough runs on the board. The pitch provided assistance to the spinners throughout and had they had 15-20 more runs on the board, they could have been in with more than a shout. That, in a microcosm, is how their campaign has transpired. Lots of missed opportunities, and a sinking feeling of what could have been.

MI have managed two points but were delayed a little in their chase. RCB tried their best to defend a below par total but they were indisciplined at the start. Devine managed to get an edge of Matthews but off a no-ball. MI openers added 53 for the opening wicket. And there was no looking back post that. Yes, they wanted to do it inside 11.3 overs to go past DC's NRR but that wasn't possible as they kept losing regular wickets. RCB would be very disappointed with their campaign.

Smriti Mandhana: We tried to fight. Kanika bowled well. One of those days as a fielder when which of the ball goes in the air comes to you. We were below par today. We have a great team. We have a balanced team. Won't say we don't have a great team because we haven't done well. We had some amazing players. The first four-five games didn't go our way. My personal form wasn't great. We didn't get great starts. Sometimes things don't go as you have planned. We will come back stronger next season. We have found some amazing youngsters in Shreyanka and Kanika. They have been fearless. Was pleasing to see as a skipper. Asha bowled very well too.

So, it is time to get your calculators out. MI, courtesy of this win, sit at the top of the points table but they could be usurped by DC, provided, of course, the latter wins their game against the UP Warriorz. There is one other factor that complicates things. Let's say DC bat first and they score 140, they will have to win by at least four runs to ensure that they remain above MI in the points table. A lesser margin of victory and MI will finish as table-toppers. A win for the Warriorz would mean that DC and the Warriorz finish on 10 points, with the pair playing the Eliminator against each other on Friday.

Harmanpreet Kaur: Winning is always important to get the momentum going. When you lose, it can be negative feelings. But everyone was talking how to win this. In the last two games, we were not able to do what we trying to do. But we discussed today as to how to go about it. For us, winning the game was important. When we got a good start, we were trying to chase it down inside 15 overs. After losing my wicket, we played a little sensibly. Amelia is always keen to do well for the team. She always wants to do well for the team.

Amelia Kerr: I think it is nice to get the win. To turn it around, it shows some character of the team. Was a quick turn around for us. Nice to come through. Seems to go my way a little today. 10 an over was a good day when I got there. There are some world class batters here. Short boundaries as well and they can go for it.
