I did try the first few episodes but didn't finish it for the same reason as your's. But i must say they did a much better job than the Korean and the Chinese version. Japanese version of boys over flowers is the best I think because it was the most faithful to the manga. Besides what is the best in terms of direction and script might not be what we like. I think in the manga she is not supposed to be attractive Tom boyish. In the jap version the girl is gorgeous it is the guy that is ugly, the way it is said poverty means unattractive because you are not in designer clothing Mind blowing logic.

I can take thai amount of weirdness but i cannot take Japanese amount of weirdness🤣. I only watch Japanese movies and not dramas. They are way too twisted and crazy. Even some movies are way beyond our normal realm.

Koreans are very prude and conservative when it comes to dressing. Even men don't roam around on streets with 2-3 top buttons of their shirts open in public. I still remember the backlash the drama backstreet rookie got for some of the dresses the fl wore in the initial episodes. Before those backlash news came i didn't even notice her clothes.

Iontbo had grand wardrobe for the fl and she expressed herself through her clothes. She wanted attention and her clothesline scream attention. More than fashion it was part of her characterisation.

btw gimme a break, all these Tv shows are the same, no matter where you are from. Currently there is another show on Geo where the mother in law forces the daughter in law to go through an abortion…cannot even yaar! My mother was saying in that blessed show yeh rishta kya..they actually use shiv Parvati as reference to the hero heroine who are extremely problematic. There is really no real sense, sensibility or sensitivity when it comes to Tv soaps. They are the worst for the brain!!!

There are Thai dramas with English subtitles on Thai YouTube channel gmmtv. There are drama series like ugly ducking series, u prince series that are typical high school college romance. Then there are Thai lakrons like kluen cheewit, huja sila, game saneha which are heavy dramas with way too much negative characters doing crazy things. Behaya will look like a child in from crazy psycho Thai female characters 🤣. They will literally pull the hair out and hit the shit out of other characters and if the fl isn't a docile one then she will hit back with double the force. 🤣 these type of dramas mostly don't have English subtitles on YouTube and will have to be watched on unofficial sites that provides subtitles. Don't remember any thai sites now. Haven't watched a Thai lakron for ages.

There is one thing i like about Thai dramas, if they want to show female leads as spoiled brats then they will be complete spoiled brats. They won't have any of the good girl quality we usually see in Desi shows. One good example is game saneha. Even the villains were chai come paani in front of her🤣. The ml was a literal saint to be with her and bare all her antiques. 🤣

I used to work in Bangkok - two of my Thai work colleagues loved that Iss pyaar show and they said it’s like their show. The best is one of my colleagues asked me if all Indian girls have such horrible fashion sense like khushi!!! 🤣
