I have said this time and again. Maa begum is not negative. I am so happy the writer also confirmed this.
She is a woman with old-school views. And she expects that her ghar ki bahu beti should also follow the same morals and traditions. This is the basic reason for all her clashes with Meerab. But inspite of the anger, there is still love.
In the first episode itself, it is established that maa begum keeps agreeing to all of Meerab's wishes and demands. She kisses her forehead while announcing her as Murtasim ki dulhan and gifts her khandaani kangan. These are all acts of love. She does not have ill will against Meerab.
But of course her first priority is Murtasim. She knows the girl has been devising new ways of irritating her son. Sometimes she feeds him fish, sometimes she takes out his bullets. The accident and Murtasim being gravely injured was the last straw. Her lashing out at Meerab was just a reaction of a distressed mother. There was no hate in that.
As soon as she realizes Murtasim is missing Meerab, she does consider going to Anwar and saying sorry. She herself realizes that maybe she was too harsh on the girl. She thinks about correcting her mistake. Even after Murtasim sunaos him so much, she doesn't hate Meerab. She is happy to know that they are having a special dinner outside. She truly wants her son and daughter in law to have a happy married life.
