That is a wonderful point you make how with time as society has evolved KDrama has kept with the times. Audiences will no longer tolerate toxic male leads, their culture is similar to ours in many things, and their dramas reflect these core values like respecting your parents, being faithful in love, being good and decent, if you do good you will be rewarded, being neighbourly, gossip is bad, hard work is rewarded, second chances are earned not given out of entitlements, honesty is a virtue not a weakness, etc etc etc.
And Hindi Dramas are going in the opposite direction. It is a shameful thing to see and admit at the ghastly state of Hindi dramas, it is a poor reflection of our society and our characters. The worst crime is Hindi Dramas have made a mockery out of love between and a man and a woman.
Strong woman Do Bong Soon is one my all time favourite romantic Kdramas. How cute was that couple, the hero was just so Handsome, my god I just fell in love with him. I can't praise this drama enough. Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo is another one with similar theme was JUST PERFECT. Can't appreciate Koreans enough they are doing everything right in their entertainment industry.
The main reason why kdramas are successful is because they stay true to their culture and don't try to compromise on their belives and culture to cater to the western audience. Kdramas female leads no matter how fashionable they are don't wear too revealing clothes unless it's required because culturally they don't like females showing too much upper body skin. But it's perfectly fine to show as much legs as they want. We will never see anyone sl*t shaming a girl for showing legs or even for getting drunk because those are culturally acceptable for them. It's not them trying to be modern. Drinking is socially accepted there. Girls can get drink in front of their fathers without being questioned or shown to be disrespectful.
I think everyone who wants to be creative and try something new are moving to ott platform in India. Hindi webseries are really good and are well made. I saw the first 3-4 episodes of the family man and it's so well shot with such good quality and great acting. Almost all of tvf webseries are amazing. Hindi serials cannot be compared to kdramas or pak dramas simply because they are not finite shows. It can be compared to Spanish soap operas at best and from whatever i have known they are as crazy as Hindi serials 🤣. Anything that runs for an infinite amount of time is bound to be trashy.
Swdbs is the first kdrama o got absolutely obsessed with. Park Bo young is without a doubt the cutest actress in the world. If i ever meet her I want to squeeze her chubby cheeks😆 and hyungsik is equally cute. No wonder they are called the puppy couple in Korea. They are the first couple i shipped offscreen and the only other is ji chang wook and nam ji Hyun from suspicious partners. These two couples gave me the feels. 😳
