That's what I keep saying. And not coz Aditi is fairer, she has better features and was given better costumes that she carried well. IRL, Anupriya Goenka (the first wife) is so beautiful, but she she was given a such meh costume and such a bakwaas character arc.

Even the princess that Khilji captures and tortures in the lake was better looking than DP in the movie.

Everytime I watch the scene where Aditi tells DP that she is the most beautiful woman she has seen, I go "woman, your husband has had so many women, are you sure about your statement?"

No hate against DP, i just think they did her real uncool with the look. Her bajirao mastani and ramleela looks were beautiful.

Except aditi has zero screen presence. I love her in stills/pictures but in motion, she blends into the background. She just doesn't have the spark to hold her own...

As for dp, i honestly can't think of any current generation actresses who can pull off a queen or princess. Aish was the last one. Who else has that kind of stature? If you think dp was miscast, then anyone else would have been far far worse.

That is a very very cliched excuse to give just because someone finds a lighter skinned girl prettier than a dark skinned girl....I faced it a lot for being a Kat fan.....there are so many gorgeous dark skinned women who made it to top in BW.......SLB ruined Deepu's look in Padmavat...even her own fans were not happy.... no surprises that most people found Aditi look better than Deepu......Can Aditi beat Deepu's looks in OSO??....no way ...not even any other actress.....not even Kat.....its just how an actress looks in a certain movie...nothing to do with fair or dark skin...

Till date only Madhubala, Hema Malini and Ash have had the gravitas to pull off queen or historical roles or look like royalty or some apsara type beauty. They have great aura.

And in South it is Ramya Krishnan and Anushka Shetty who suit warrior queens or Kali ma type roles well.

I have hardly seen actresses being able to pull off queen or warrior or devi roles well.

Deepika was prettiest of the lot so SLB went with her but honestly she never had traditional aura about her, looks too modern and her voice was weak, her dialogue delivery in jauhar scene was flat and she is too thin, lacks full figure women of those days used to have and she does not have the beauty for which anyone would wage a war for.

just watch aishwarya in jodha akabar…anyone will know what beauty and aura is all about..and its not only the face but her figure..she was curvaceous, feminine looking and just had a demeanour which oozed rajputana vibes from her

Ash has nazaqat, thehraav, slowness in walk, speech, elegance, right posture with upright back and neck and piercing eyes that suit queen or princess roles perfectly. And a full figure.

Ash is not flat or like a lamp post. Roles like Bajirao Mastani or Padmavat were tailor made for her or someone like Madhubala, Rekha or Hema when they were younger. Not for modern western looking, flat supermodels.

Anushka actually looks like a typical Indian from some past era. She has good screen presence, height, full figure and very Indian face.

Her eyes are amazing especially in showing royal pride and aggression when needed.

She looks like she is in charge. I was bowled over by her in Arundhati, Rudramadevi and Bahubali.

I have not seen such an Indian looking actress to do period films in BW for sure.

Deepika's dialogue delivery is her biggest weakness. Even if you like her face or body, the moment she opens her mouth, it all goes kaput. She never made effort to improve either.
