Why only women celebs get obsessed?

Parveen Babi, Meena Kumari, Rekha, Kangana- we have examples of women obsessed with married men or wasting self over love.

Among men I think it was only Guru Dutt who ruined self over Waheeda and affair with her. Or Sanjeev Kumar who wasted self over failed love life. To some extent Salman wasted self over Ash and for a while so did Vivek.

There are comparatively less likely to be vocally obsessed and waste self over a female star.

I have not seen any man obsessed even in old age. Dev Anand is only one who comes to mind who kept talking about Suraiya at even 80.

Why is it only woman celebs and stars who openly show obsession with a male star or lose self in process? To the point of making fool of self or ruining own career and mental health?

Obsession and gender have no correlation. Can happen with anyone literally. Honestly who knows what these people were depressed about. World is a cruel place and can put even the sanest of people on a self destructive path.

Well said ! I would like to add, if everything written about Salman stalking Aish on Chalte Chalte sets and causing a scene is true then it is safe to say he was obsessed. There is a lot written we do not know is true or not. But many of the scenarios described due hint towards a bit of an obsession.

Sanjeev was obsessed with Hema, but it fell through. He was also obsessed with Shabana but his mom forbade him to marry her as she was Muslim.

Sanjeev'a love life was reason why he let himself go, gained weight, began to drink a lot and looked much older than his age and began to do dad roles in mid 20s itself and died rather young due to deteriorating health.

I am yet to see a man who is as publicly and shamelessly, hopelessly, visibly obsessed with a woman even if she is married and is a granny, the way Rekha is obsessed with Amitabh till date. Or a man totally destroying himself over a female superstar. Salman, Dev Anand did not entirely ruin self. Guru Dutt is only one who lost it over affair with Waheeda and failure of Kaagaz ke Phool.

Maybe because they are more looked down upon for lowering their standard.. Hrithik one was called true love vs kat or deepika

I've read surraiya never married either. Her and Dev's was a tragic love story rather than obsession, i think.

Such stories are sadly too common. Suraiyya was completely under her family's control. They didn't approve of dashing Dev. Maybe because he was a young upcoming actor while she was a superstar. He asked her to marry him. She returned his ring. He married Kalpana Karthik in a huff not long after. They slipped away in between shots to marry/propose quickly. The observant cameraman saw that Kalpana suddenly had a ring on her finger in the next shot. Same with Madhubala-Dilip Kumar. Men (usually) don't hang around eternally once The Proposal is rejected. These experiences probably might be why Nargis married Sunil Dutt secretly despite family opposition.
