Didn't 'the forum' (many members here) already stated long ago that Akshay is an opportunist...so, he just does what he thinks is opportune...

After his movies failed he remembers that India is everything. Sure, buddy! I don't care about the passports, it's the lies and tinke tinke mein aane waala nationalism that baffles me.

He was born in India and had no choice.

He chose Canada. He renounced India.

Then he chose India. He renounced Canada.

Guys, it's 1-1 between India and Canda. He needs to do more to prove his Indian love.

I do wish India supported dual citizenship. I know folks with multiple citizenship.

@BOLD:

Completely agree. Because of lack of dual citizenship in India, NRIs who go abroad willingly leave their Indian citizenship so as to gain the new citizenship of the country living abroad.

Actually, I think, Akshay doesn't care for India...I even doubt that he looks at India as his homeland...but somehow, I would like that he renounces to his Canadian citizenship and takes the Indian one just to be trapped in his hypocrisy (I suppose he won't do it...it might just be piffle)

Taxation is one factor, but his proximity towards the ...

Socio-political climate could also be another factor.

People that change citizenship like clothing have no allegiance to any country. If he wanted to be Indian he would be already (even if he only renounced Canadian citizenship in 2019). He wants to maintain his Canadian citizenship for security not any love or loyalty while simultaneously playacting love for India - a country that he clearly wants an escape hatch from when the time is right.

With the advent of 'Boycott Bollywood' pre & post pandemic,

and the Socio-political factors around that. A shift's essential ... for him.
