Second top show with devar bhabhi saga🤣

Wait, even topmost show about world's greatest mother is one of them.🤣

But there are serious charges against them about making mockery of serious issues like adoption, surrogacy, rape, consent etc.

But still they are most watched, most discussed shows.

And when addressing "viewers" i never used the term "they", "him", "she/he". I used "we" because everyone has watched it. I myself have spent some good times on those forums also written in those character while things were light and good. But my threshold came and i left, so did many other people but some are still there and many new are joining whos threshold is yet to come.

Agree but would like to make small correction. Its not only aunties and their bais. So called young gen also watch those same shows online. If you see online trps of top rated shows then they excel there also. The difference is aunties dont give a damn about what's happening and dont waste time discussing over it. But young gen not only watch the show but also comes on various social media platforms to make comments, discuss etc. This way they not only gives unnecessary hype to the show but also promote it for free. So I guess our gen is more responsible for popularity of such shows.

And tv over whole world is messed up. Now katha is remake of turkish series which has been remade in 50 countries and it was liked everywhere. So you see, people all over world like stupid shows alike.

all that you are pointing is correct, but what I meant was from channel and producers perspective. Their audience is not the young ones, they are only supposed to be pulled in for initial tracks… you will hear PH tell a writer, pehle 20 episode mei young actor actress ka nok jhok phir kitchen mei chale jaao. With youngster’s continuing to watch, that’s the addiction factor. Which you have to go cold turkey, even stop visiting social media forums.

Especially when it comes to protagonists being used by villainous characters, everyone turns a blind eye to it which is something that really needs to stop because no one is that dumb in real life but just for the sake of TRPs things will never change. They really need to abolish the whole TRP system because this is the 21st century and it does not make any sense when we have so many different platforms giving us content.

Actually there is a lot of industry reserach to tell you that there is actually NO a potential for ITV - many have tried, YRF had a Tv department which went bust, Sony tried to make limited series that went bust. Star one was established to focus on youth shows, they all made no money, or st least not as much as kitchen shows were making, The eventual understanding was that ITV will cater to lowest common denominator market and TRP will be continued as an evaluation measurement. And content will be driven by formula.

I don't disagree with anything that everyone is saying but I just don't get why ITV can't even run one proper show without following the usual regressive plots and adding negative characters. If aunties want to watch regressive crap let them watch it, if they want to create more regressive content let them create it, but not even one person wants to come up and create something unique in the ITV space just because it won't get good TRPs?

They won’t because it doesn’t make money. This is a business plain and simple. There is very less ad space now - the ad generators have reduced dramatically. It’s only FCG companies - and some appliance companies so ad space is revenue generator. Sony was one of the first who did product placement within the show, in fact I think last episode had one - some sauce valla.
Today a FCG company is romanced by so many sources - Instagram influencers, web shows and TV, so the money is less. If they want to make profits, the show has to be around for some time, that’s why reduction of professional costs in consecutive tracks and ad revenue contracts for longer period of time

Because at the end its all about revenue. No one is doing charity. Trp gives them revenue. So, they or why to blame them if we were in their position then we would have also wanted money instead of pleasing a small section of viewers.

Rishta.com was bomb, I saw it a couple years back and loved it. I wish they made more shows like that but it's clearly not just the makers fault but also the audiences for rejecting quality content and sticking to regressive crap.

see it’s not audience is rejecting or not. Audience also don’t care…for them it’s noise in the background. It’s another level of addiction only, they don’t think they have a say, they don’t even want it. They don’t think this has any impact on their lives. We are the ones who cliaim it does, because we are attaching our thinking caps to the shows. They are not.

So the funniest part is ITV built the formula around daytime TV in the US. There is research to show that daytime TV did contribute to a very small extent of conservative thinking in American families. However, it did not span generations as this was daytime and kids typically were in school. I think it would be interesting to see when such formulaic Tv storytelling was introduced in prime time what effects does it have.
