Part 2:
An year later...
Maan Singh Khurana weds Geet Handa
A welcome board decorated beautifully with flowers at the entrance of the convention hall.
Welcome drinks were served to the guests, and were seated looking at the rituals going on. The groom was seated in front of the holy fire, performing rituals. He was looking handsome in his dark green sherwani with golden patiala pant, turban on his head. Forehead adored with kunkum, soft chocolate orbs, long sharp nose, a small smile on M-shaped lips which moved while reciting the mantaras the priest had asked him to. Well built muscular body, all in all he looked calm, composed and handsome.
He was Maan the only son of the famous industrialist Rajvender and Savitri Khurana.
Pandit asked to bring the bride,
after few minutes the bride was seen walking with a few ladies around her who lead her to the mandap. She was made to sit down beside Maan.
Her beautiful curvaceous body clad in a beautiful red bridal silk saree which was heavy with the beautiful golden jerry works on it. She was adored with gold from head to toe, mangteeka on her mang, bindi on her forehead, her long silky tresses plated. Big almond eyes adored with kaajal and her long lashes made it look all the way more beautiful. Sofe straight nose adored with a nose ring. Soft pink lips and creamy chubby cheeks which would have a dimple whenever she smiled. Her heart shaped face, earrings dangling in her ears. Her long smooth neck adored with necklace and a long chain, thin slender waist with a waist chain. Both hands full of golden red bangles which jiggled when ever she made a movement and they were adored with mehendi which was in the darkest shade of red, anklets around her ankles.
She was Geet, the only daughter of Mohinder Handa.
Both of them together were complementing each other in every aspect, the gathering adored the beautiful, cute couple there. Ladies praised Savitri's choice of bride for her son and that they looked perfect.
The important rituals started, kanyadan of Geet was done by Mohinder by placing her hand in Maan's hand, Ghatbandan was tied with the end of Geet's pallu and a duphata on Maan's shoulder. Both folded their hands, prayed and did as the pandit said them to. Then they were asked to stand for pheras, where Maan held Geet's hand in his and goes around the fire after the fourth round Geet leads the way for the next three rounds. After the pheras they are made to sit then the pandit held a thall infront of the couple chanting mantras while bestowing the thall and the couple with akshate(turmeric rice grains) and flowers, blessing the couple. He forwarded the thall towards Maan asked him to do as said. The hall filled with shenai as Maan filled Geet's mang with sindoor then tied mangalsutra around her smooth, slender neck.
Then he slides the toe rings on the second toe of both of Geet's feet.
They were finally announced as husband and wife, for not only this life but for the next births too.
All the while Maaneet were bestwoned with flowers by the guests blessing them.
There was another ritual, where Maan cupped Geet's hand which held a coconut and betal leaf was placed over it. First Maan's parents came placed a coin on the leaf then poured milk over it which flew down both their palms and then disappeared into the big container containing milk below their palms, then blessed them by putting akshate on boths head. This was followed by Mohinder then others.
After that they took blessings from elders, took photos together, then had their food.
The marriage didn't end there!! But most of the guests left after wishing and blessing the couple.
After relaxing for sometime, they danced or mostly it was Rajvender who danced happily. All the while Savitri was sitting between Maaneet, and holding Geet in her motherly embrace. They laughed at the way Rajvender danced funnily, after that he tugged along Maan with him. All the while Savitri didn't leave Geet, tried making her comfortable along with her, for she knew Geet would be facing a tough time without her mother at that time. Geet was happy and adoring the family infront of her.
Maan and Geet were made to sit at some distance and the tied flowers were made into a ball and was given to Maan, Maan had to throw it to Geet and she had to catch it and vice versa, it was like who wouldn't catch the ball would bow down to the other, or the one who would win will be commanding and ruling. This went on for minutes, non won and non lost, Rajvender was on Geet's side and cheered for her, that made everyone think if he was Maan's father or Geet's.
Then a big pot filled with milk and rose petals was placed between them. Then Savitri put a ring into it and asked Maaneet to search for it. When they were searching it Rajvender was observing both of them when he saw a glint in Maan's eyes he found out that Maan has got the ring. When Maan was about to take the ring out, he pulled his own ring out and took hold of Geet's left hand that was on her lap thrusted the ring between her index finger and thumb, raised her left hand high saying
"Geet jeet gaye, mere beti jeet gaye."
Geet was startled when her father in-law held her left hand and thrusted something in between her fingers, before she knew what in actual was happening she found her left hand held above her head and him screaming.
All looked at him, Maan too and took out his hand from the pot and showed the ring. Looking at Maan's right hand which was dripping down milk and Geet's right hand still in the pot, people yelled playfully "cheating" at Rajvender and he also received a wack on his shoulder from his wife who was sitting beside him. But all he did was side hugged his daughter (in-law), Geet was happy and smiling all the while with the things happening around her.
*****************
They reached Khurana Mansion after bidaai.
Savitri Devi did the arti of the newly wed and asked Geet to push the kalash filled with rice, which she followed and the foot imprints of Maaneet was taken on clay moulding. Then both were lead to the pooja room in the house. Geet lit the diya and did aarti along with Maan.
After this light snacks was served then everyone retired to their respective rooms. Savitri guided Geet to Maan's room and when they were infront of the door she placed the milk glass she was carrying in between Geet's palms, she pushed the door little and blessing Geet she went away.
*****************
The room was beautifully decorated for the wedding night of the newly wed couple.
Maan is already in the room sitting infront of the TV and watching cricket. He is so engrossed into it that he doesn't even notice someone has entered the room, that's Geet, his wife.
Geet doesn't look happy, she places the glass of milk on the table making sound
*THUD*
That distracts Maan, he jumps up when he found it was Geet.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Interesting match chal rahi ti aur maine aap ko notice nahi kiya." He proceeds to switch off the TV
"Aap pade likae to ho na?" was the thing that he heard next. That freezes Maan, who was putting away the TV remote.
He turns towards his wife with a frown
"Ha."
He said as a matter of fact. At first he didn't understand why this question was asked, then thought maybe she had doubt as many fraud cases were reported of the groom lying about his qualifications before marriage...
"Kyu? Doubt hai? Certificates dekhao?"
"Pada likhe ho, aur dikhte hain jaise aap sab kuch samajh ti ho. Par shadi hone se pehle ladki ko ek bar pooch na chaye...ye aap zoori nahi samji."
Ok, now it was somewhere giving a hint to Maan that she didn't like marrying him and her earlier question had nothing to do with his certificates.
"Tumne iss shaadi keliye haan kaha hai, isliye meri mamma pappa ne tumko pasand kiya hoga samaj kar tumse shaadi ki."
He answered straight.
"Mathlab tumari mama papa pasand kiya iss liye aap ne shaadi ki! You for once didn't think that it's your life and u have the right to take the decision of it. Didn't you have this simple common sense? "
It was clear from the choice of her words that she was not interested in marrying him, but he didn't counter back the way she did.
"Teek hai meri pass to nahi ti, tum to mere pass aakar batana ta na!....ki tum ko meri se shaadi nahi karni hai!!"
"No one had the patience to listen to me nor they gave me a chance to speak. A girl needs her mother so that she can speak her heart out but I'm unfortunate that I don't have her..... and Dad didn't understand my love." tears start to flow from her almond hazal eyes while saying this. Maan listens to this silently
"Dekhye, aap mujhse shaadi ki hogi, lekin meri maan mai meri pati ke sthan sirf Dev kahai. My father might have forced me into this marriage but I take it as my freedom.....
Mujhe meri pyaar par vishwas hai. Aaj nahi to kal vo zaroor ayenge aur mujhe unke sath lakar jayega.....Agar insab kehne ke badh be aap ne force kiya tho...!"
Maan raises his hand gesturing her to stop.
"Tumhari tan milegi mann nahi, right?"
To which Geet turns her face
" Vo sab to teek hai....*pause* lekin aab tumhai kay chaye?"
An instant answer came
"Divorce "
Maan didn't react, he was calm and composed all the while
"That's it, right? Tum bohot takgai ho. Aab so ja, baki kal bath kar lenge."
That was a shocker for Geet. She never expected this reaction from Maan. She was surprised with his behavior. She expected him to shout, screem, blame her for cheating him and him to even creat a scene by dragging her from the room and telling others of what she had said, she had even to an extent expected a slap from him but definitely not this behavior.
But at last left thinking about it and they both were starring at each other, then turned in opposite directions. Geet towards the bed and Maan towards the room door.
**************
Maan came out of the room and started walking with slow steps remembering the incident that happened 6 months ago.
