6.15pm Ever since Suryakumar Yadav made his T20I debut, he has been in a different league. He has three hundreds and 13 fifties in just 43 innings, but what's more incredible is that he has an average of 46.4 while striking at 180.3. Shiva Jayaraman dissects his numbers here.

Time for the pitch report: "The pitch looks excellent, it's hard with an even covering of the grass," says Ajit Agarkar. "The ball will skid on but there could be a little bit of help with the new ball." The square boundaries are around 60-odd metres, down the ground it's into the 70s.

Som T: "In my humble opinion, Gill is more suited for ODI and tests. He needs some balls to get going. Keeping him will bring back age old questions regarding 'intent'."

In injury updates, Ish Sodhi returns for New Zealand. He also has excellent numbers in India: 16 wickets from ten games and an economy of 6.64. Ruturaj Gaikwad, though, has been ruled out of the series with a wrist injury.

I honestly don't understand the logic of resting Ro and Virat after every couple of games. They have just gotten their form back. Let them play some regular cricket, fgs.

You are right, I agree with you. By resting them, the team management did a strategic mistake. They are playing well, and should continue to do well further.

Hardik: We will have a bowl first. Looks like a good track. I can see dew right now. Just go out there and play the best cricket we know. It is a young team. We will focus on playing good cricket. Playing the ODIs before T20Is makes it easy to pass on. For a lot of them it is an experience just being in the team. Yuzi, Mukesh, Jitesh and Prithvi miss out.
