I saw a fake forward on Twitter which claimed SRK has said if Pathan flops he will leave India and that no one has guts to declare Pathaan a flop.

Such is the desperation of IT cell that they are spreading lies non stop online.

And urging people to break egos of 'Urduwood', 'Khanwood' and boycott their films.

Disgusting. It has become pattern to target BW films and especially those of liberal stars or Khans or ones thought to be close to INC or Gandhis or Vadras or rivals like Mamta, Yadavs etc at any point.

I am happy people ignored propaganda and watched the film. Let's make IT cell irrelevant again.

Bollywood is a soft target and an excellent smokescreen for diverting attention. As SRK himself had said in his AIB interview, a selfie is usually enough. These people just want some reflected glory or a share in the limelight. Or perhaps exhort money by creating tension during release time. Pity we don't have any stalwarts left in Bollywood like Balraj Sahni who went to jail for speaking up against establishment. Or even Dev Anand. None of our major stars want to upset the applecart. The current Bollywood stance seems to be complete denial that the boycott campaign has powerful backers. Without powerful backers it would have fizzled out long back.

The budget for Pathaan was estimated at 260 crore.

The movie already seems to have generated 60% of that. 😃

I miss days of Gulzar, Dev Anand, Utpal Dutt, Kishore Kumar taking a stand against targeting of artistes by govt and crackdown on FoE. They openly defied Emergency also.

Today's stars lack such spine. What makes it worse is the silence from majority background stars. Their silence makes it easy for anyone to make it communal issue.

Films, cartoons, TV, music are soft targets and going after celebs is like aiming for the lowest hanging fruit.

I agree it is a distraction from real issues and failures of govt besides a huge extortion racket and cheap attempt to dictate filmmakers what content or ads to make.

It ia sad how good ads like Tanishq, Brooke Bond, Surf Excel, Au Bank, Manyawar and Dabur were withdrawn despite good messages. Withdrawing ads or apologising for no reason is only emboldening regressive mobs.

Removing Aamir or Deepika as brand ambassadors of certain brands or discontinuing their ads on air was clearly cowing down to the mob, that does not even represent masses at large.

Day 3 will even see more crazy RETURNS 👍🏼
