Regardless, as you and Gilmores have both pointed out, Alia's true trouble is that she has outgrown Bollywood. She is too big for Varun-Ranveer types and she doesn't do these big budget silly films anyway. And she doesn't have the resilience and talent of a PC to go try her luck in Hollywood. It's not a great position to be in.

She seems to be going into production. I think she'll do well there. She understands film craft and business.

that shankar film is velpaari, it is based on some period tamil novel (abouts clans, tribes etc), there was some backlash that it needs somebody native

the other shankar ranveer project was remake of anniyan but it ran into legal troubles, so shelved

shankar has two projects kamal's indian 2 and ram charan one which are both shooting

they both have to relase and if they do well then some possibility for the first or he may replace ranveer because he will have more clout then and wouldnt want the backlash

look at the trolling she got for rrr or brahmastra, actually they are big budget projects and its ok for actresses (that is the way the industry is, it just doesnt have that many female centric roles) for them to balance such movies with those of more substance

But she has built this narrative around her, that you expect her role to be actually relevant to the plot and it comes across badly. We will probably see similar complaints for Rocky-Rani.

Production is one choice as HMR said. An Anushka type model of playing lead in your own scripts works. Or maybe she will just slow down. We will see. I don't see a Hollywood career for her. She has been too sheltered all her career.

production is not easy and she seems very ambitous to slow down for acting

frankly I dont see a hw career for any of our actors, let's face it even a priyanka, aishwarya or deepika are not like top notch, raw acting talents, as for looks globally they are dime a dozen pretty faces and good lookers. also they are anyway unknown, so you can as well cast an indian born american like poorna or cast appropriately and accent will be no issue.

as for casting them to get indian audience to view in india, the hw movies which work in india at the box office are big action or spectacle, an avatar or, cameron, marvel speilbreg dont need indian actors to work. as for niche hw films, they will anyway be seen by auidence who are into english films and who dont need indian actors to pull them in.

Exactly. She has spread the narrative that these dance numbers will be below her. And she can't play third billing so even Bhansali is out. Ideally somebody like Kriti would do that. But I guess Alia or Deepika might do it as a favor to Bhansali, to get the project off the ground. Funding will be difficult to get for a Ranveer-Kriti project.

I can see Alia doing another Dulhaniya film though. Varun needs that right now.

Yeah, I am genuinely interested in seeing what she does next. It's been a lot of smart choices, but sustaining a peak is lot more work than reaching it.

For a bollywood actress right now, the Hollywood career would have to be supporting role and paving the way for future actors. There's always more interesting challenges. I think a lot of middle eastern and South East Asian directors would be interested in working with Bollywood actors. Deepika auditioned for Majid Majdi's film. Always thought it was rather disappointing that she never pursued that direction.

i serioulsy think you need great acting chops for that, i can see a irfan khan (much loved in namesake but sadly gone too soon), tabu doing it, even shabana starrred in this nice film called madame souzatka and a few others
