Yup the way Viaan honestly told Ehsan and him taking it casually shows its not that uncommon in their world. But looks like Viaan stays away from it. It was clear how he fired that employee when she tried to flirt with him. But I am surprised he is kinda doing the same with Katha. He himself offered ONS to Katha and is even going ahead with it. Why not just fire her just like he did to the other employee?

Ehsan was also going to say something about what kind of person/relationship Viaan prefers but stopped midway. Wonder what exactly it is?

no one is a mind reader and people are terrible at reading others. whether it is dramas or real life, interpersonal conflicts happen precisely because we have no idea what the other person is thinking or feeling. we are only thinking about a situation from our side.

when we look at it from viaan's side, it is strange:

-- if you apply for a persona loan, you have to be a permanent employee for minimum 6 months and the max you get is 10 times your salary. here she is asking for 50-100 times her salary and it is very next day after becoming permanent. no company will give such loan.

-- if she had explained her circumstances, then he would have listened but she didn't even feel comfortable sharing with jeetu bhai who is a very nice person. even if it was on compassionate grounds, they would have given her only 10 times her salary.

-- the amount she is asking is over the top. if we keep aside emotions, any time someone asks a loan, we need details to assess and we make choices all the time. no one donates just like that.

was he a prick? sure, he could have just said 'no'. but he is offering his own money and not the company.

while there are going to be different reactions, there are several reasons why I don't see katha as a victim. she is actively making that choice. she comes back and says 'yes' but also sets terms. you cannot negotiate a deal unless you have freedom and wiggle room to be flexible.

-- her first condition is that it stays between them. so straight up, she is saying that this is a private deal and does not involve anyone else. her second condition is that it will not affect her work; while she initially said she will resign, he actually didn't set any such terms when he flippantly offered her one night stand. it was a simple money for time transaction without emotion. she was free to say 'no' and he did not threaten her with any consequences. he didn't physically encroach into her space and the offer was only made once --so I agree with ssp123 that this is not blackmail. neither does it seem as workplace harassment. instead, it is an indecent pass. unpleasant for sure, but more in pass category. one of those grey situations where we will all split hairs depending on perspective.

-- she is the one who sets terms of payment -- has to be immediate. she is the one who sets the time for the event -- the same night. so she makes it clear that this is one time event only and it will not happen again and she wants money immediately. she is setting the terms for the deal. infact, she is the one who texts him to ask him when and where. you can only set terms and negotiate when you are in charge and are actively making that choice. yes, it is unpleasant for her but she is making the choice.

-- while it could be argued that viaan should have asked, it is an interesting that he didn't probe into her personal life. he wasn't curious. but then again, if you ask for a gold loan at the bank, they don't ask you why you need the money either. it is simple transation -- you pawn the jewels and you get the money. so it is similar kind of approach and thinking that is happening here. he is only thinking about himself.

-- he does not know her or what is going on with her life to understand this is difficult. as far as he knows, this is consensual especially as she is setting the terms within the deal. she is actively participating here. he is obviously terrible at understanding people and makes assumptions based on his bias and world view. that makes him a stupid person; one of countless MLs and shows that run on misunderstandings. 🤷

zabardasti marriage trope? marriage to soothe parents trope? -- depending on perspective, some would class that as harassment while others would simply say difficult choice.

as for katha, she is owning the choice she makes. we have to see the type of woman she is. she is not inviting pity party here from anyone. if she was, she would have wept and cried in the middle of office. but she walks in there rather calmly as much as possible and negotiates the terms. that is a powerful woman who is taking control of the narrative. is it unpleasant for her? absolutely. but she is not going to let him define their interaction and instead wrestles the upper hand. that shocked him and also bugged him.

so we make unpleasant choices all the time because we can be victim of circumstances or that we feel forced. but it is a choice. going back to your example, say, someone murdered another in the process because they needed the money, the courts might be sympathetic but the person still has to face time for murder because it is a choice they made. we think of choices as pleasant but that is not always the case.
