Is this an accurate take on Vivah?

I personally disagree. First of all the father never loved Poonam more. Yes, he was more protective of her because she was an orphan and clearly never got a mother’s love. Second the two girls were not the same age. The younger cousin was as shown studying for high school. And Poonam was in college.

LMAO true! 😆 I mean I empathize with anyone who had to face some form of discrimination. But they internalize their experiences so much they judge every little thing through the lens of what they faced.

The detail about the dad playing favoritism may be wrong but the rest is rather accurate. Vivah is a typical Barjatya movie laced with sanctimonious and benevolent misogyny and sexism.

I did think the dad was favouring poonam….….I think he kinda took it for granted that the younger one was happy to lucky…we never see him being as affectionate, or praising her constantly like he does with poonam

I think they just made him be horribly good to her coz her Mami hated her. Weird attempt to balance it out.😆

I felt like Vivaah was movie which actually showed a homely spineless girl gets married to be a rich man's doormat wife. Skin color was never an issue.
