BI,

Powerful women, rich women, educated women don't get support from other women on the reasoning that they don't need support. That is 100% inaccurate. This is very much a man's world we're living in. If women at whatever level don't give each other a hand, there will never be equality.

What do you think that NGO is going to do? Stop sex trafficking, provide for education, make domestic abuse illegal. All absolutely critical. But is that all women should aspire to? Basic safety and primary school education? But otherwise stay one step behind the men?

We can support an NGO and support women in power at the same time.

Unfortunately, what happens is women tear down powerful women.

Is she a man-hater? Or how come she's never had a relationship? Maybe she's a lesbian. Not that we think anything's wrong with it, but yeah... maybe she is.

How many men has she slept with? She was asking for trouble... women in her position shouldn't wear such clothes/be making her relationships public.

Why is she using such language? It's not dignified for women. Look at that other powerful woman... she doesn't do those things. Now, that woman is someone to be proud of... not this powerful woman.

Who's cooking for her husband? Is she ignoring her kids? She's lucky her husband allows her to do xyz.

Who is she to tell off these political/business/art icons? How can she joke around with them? They're her seniors. Doesn't she know even junior men have egos? She has to be careful when telling them what to do.

He's a senior man, very accomplished, and he has a wife, children, grandchildren. She didn't have to ruin his reputation and destroy his family by revealing he pinched her butt/sent dirty texts. Simply ignore; it's better. She has the money/fame/power already, so why did she have to rehash old stuff?

Oh, a woman surgeon? Does she really know what she's doing?

Why is she asking for better salary? She should consider herself lucky... other women don't even get the chance for an education.

Have you seen how arrogant she is? She needs to be cut down to size.

From ancient world to 2022, this has been going on.

if you followed any of the singing competitions on TV, you will find that female singers don't garner as many votes as the male singer, even when she's supposedly the "find" of the season and better than the guy. And who's most of the audience? Teen to young adult women.

let's face it- women like to see male stars. The guy has to just take off his shirt for them to start swooning. He could be short and stodgy like Salmon or SRK, it doesn't matter. Kya body hai. 😆 While guys might also enjoy watching the opposite sex take off their shirts, it doesn't happen often. Women will be the first one calling the other woman a sl*t for doing that.

the same dynamic is seen in US Presidential elections. Women outnumber guys when it comes to voters. But we have no woman as prez. Yes, more women go for the woman candidate, but not by as much as guys who prefer the male candidate.

looks like women dont get turned on by other women.😉😆

I totally disagree. I'm deepika fan i've watch almost all her movies. I'm ranbir fan also n i've watched almost his all movies. I've jhelofied movies like Bombay velvet n gehraaiyan only becoz of my favourite actors. But in theatre, i watch those movies whose content is more attractive for me. I enjoyed Deepika's happy new year in Theatre but i didn't want to watch her chhapaak in theatre becoz I'm sensitive to watch so much painful scenes especially on big screen. I close my eyes when those cancer smocking ads come. N i enjoyed Ranbir's sanju in theatre except those vulgar scenes but i didn't watch his Bombay velvet in theatre. So if we talk about theatre going audiences, content, marketing is important. See the example of sunny deol. Now he've lost that craze

why the hell r u generalising all the girls? I'm a girl n i will definitely not vote for a six pack abs less talented guy than a more talented female singer. N i'm not that much crazy for six pack abs. I had a crush on ranbir kapoor during yjhd but i never liked tiger Shroff lookwise.

Very well written post. @HearMeRoar

Misogyny is everywhere. Women need support everywhere and not just NGOs. Harsh judging happens to even rich or seemingly powerful women.

Female fans have always supported male stars, and male fans have always suppoerted other male stars.

The proof is Indian Idol where every season the janta makes a male win. Only once a female has won and that too with constant pressure from judges.

Very well articulated.

Especially the part on patterns of women consumers who have more responsibilities compared to men and often lack time to watch films or shows or participate in fan clubs, buy merch or first day first show tickets like male fans. Their lack of spending power, lack of agency and lack of mobility do have a role.

Especially in India, I have seen women often have no likes or dislikes of own and just go along with what family, friends or spouse or parents or kids like. Very few have strong or own likes and dislikes and follow what they like. Especially among older generation women.

I agree. Female contestants used to win only when there was no public voting and we had contests like Sa re ga ma or Meri Awaaz suno won by Shreya and Sunidhi.

IDK why female contestants get less votes and why even women viewers do not support women.

In fiction also on IF itself I have seen women sort of bashing female actors and characters more while going a bit less harsh on male actors and characters.

Women supporting women is kind of rare in fandoms perhaps...

First-day audiences are mostly male, hence the male audiences make or break a movie. Female audiences change their plan to watch a movie when a film doesn't open well.

Besides, female audiences aankhein senkne jaate hai apne fave male stars ke movies mein. Men used to do that too for fave female stars till misogyny/ hate for women irl became mainstream.
