KJO & YRF saw the talent, and could not overlook it. 😃

Everyone forgets the risk that SRK took......Darr, Baazigar and Anjaam when not one of the leading heroes were ready to take the risk of portraying a negative character.....SRK did because it was a do or die situation for him.....he didn't have a famous Dad, or money to support him.....the risk bore him fruits and now every Tom, Dick and Harry is there to take the credit for it....😃....How cute na...😃

Reminds me of a meme when Rishi Sunak became the PM of UK....both India and Pakistan were claiming him as their own..🤣..some one said its like all these coaching Institutes claiming a student who topped the exam....humaari wajah se bana hai IAS.....bhai tumhari wajah se bana hai...toh jo tumhaare yahan padh kar jo IAS nahi bane...woh sue kar de tumhe...🤣

Actually, to be honest, we don't KNOW how exactly everything happened...and it seems to be rather common that some actors (SRK among them) got roles because other rejected them.

It is every actor's/actress' CHOICE to accept or to reject a role (for whatever reasons)... it is the result that matters (e.g. the acceptance by the audience).

I don't think that it is fair to discuss things that did not happen (and I refuse to discuss other actors in this thread)...their refusals aren't because of SRK.

Well, for a newcomer without a nepo-kid background, it was indeed a risk to do negative roles and still become a (romantic) hero. (Btw, at that time, there wasn't social media where nepotism was discussed extensively, right? So, SRK getting roles through people who believed in him, was HIS OWN merit.)

Making a movie is a risk in general.

A PH (Production House) looks for a sort of consistency from ANY actor or actress.

The young new actor or actress obviously wants to get paid, but the PH mostly wants a profit in the RETURNS.

In SRK's case he was profitable for the PH ... AT THAT TIME 👍🏼

At the end of the day it's a business, and simply about making a profit 😃

rck, in SRK's case, I think, there was the additional fact of bonding, of an emotional connect... otherwise doing both (YRF and KJo) 3 movies back to back with SRK doesn't make so much sense.

SRK hardly has any blockbusters without YRF and Dharma. It is self-explanatory.

Srk never took a risk, and it was never a do or die situation for him to be forcefully cast in negative roles.

The truth is, much before he was even signed for any risky negative roles of Darr, Baazigar and Anjaam, he was offered and started shooting for conventional romantic hero roles in films like Deewana, Raju bann gaya gentleman, King Uncle, Dil aashna hai and Chamatkar in which he played the roles of conventional romantic hero and 3 films out of those 5 were successful.

He got good offers at the start of his career due to his tv popularity. Big producers like kundan shah and Aziz mirza totally supported him and even Hema Malini selected him for her ambitious first directorial dil aashna hai.

He never had any shortage of offers that's why he had 5 releases in his debut Year 1992 and all were having him in romantic conventional hero roles.

Another major self-madeup and totally incorrect thing in the above post is the statement "when none of the leading heroes were ready to take the risk of portraying a negative character".

Salman Khan was very enthusiastic to do Baazigar, he was the first and original choice of this film, but Saleem Khan wanted a better climax which could connect with the audience (later the same climax was used by the directors which Saleem suggested) but the makers didn't agreed that time and Srk stepped in as the second choice.

Darr was also originally an Amir Khan movie, who already portrayed a negative and dark character in his 2nd film Raakh for which he was even nominated for the National award as a best actor.

Due to the joint narration issue with Sunny, which everyone knows, Amir had to leave Darr, a role he was very excited to portray.

I love this post, bang on point. After ages, seeing such a fine to the point post on any topic.
