The 16th match of T20 World Cup 2022 will witness the biggest cricket rivalry of the World Sports as Ind crosses swords against the arch-rivals Pak on Sunday, October 23 at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Heading into this game, Rohit Sharma-led India will definitely look to avenge their last year’s humiliation at the hands of Pakistan. They will be without the services of their ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah.

However, the likes of Harshal Patel and Arshdeep Singh are expected to step up and take responsibility with the ball. Senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar will spearhead the bowling attack while Axar Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal will handle the spin department.

For Pakistan, things will not be much different from last year. Their team has been bolstered by the return of Mohammad Nawaz while Naseem Shah will be an interesting prospect to witness. Shaheen Shah Afridi will lead their bowling attack.

It is a match between two titans!!

The Indian team is gathered in a huddle as Virat Kohli gives them a pep talk in front of the jam-packed MCG. If India have a rock solid batting line-up, Pakistan have an equally fiery bowling attack to counter them. Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Hasnain and Naseem Shah - that's quite a threatening quartet. So like most of the time - it's once again going to be India's batting vs Pakistan's bowling.

The pitch at Melbourne is a good one for batting, and the batters can score runs freely after spending some time in the middle. There will be some bounce and carry for the pace bowlers in the initial overs. Spinners will have a significant say in the middle overs. Anything over 170 is a good competitive score on this wicket.

Rohit Sharma: We are going to field first. Looks like a good pitch, it's always nice to bowl with overcast conditions. Think the ball will swing around a bit, and we need to take its advantage. Preparations have been good. We played a couple of practice games in Brisbane. Time to come out and enjoy ourselves now. We were expecting nothing less than this, hopefully we'll entertain them (the crowd). We have seven batters, three seamers and two spinners.

Babar Azam: Toss is not in our hands, but we would have liked to bowl first as well. We'll try to post around 160-170. We have prepared well, and we are ready for this big game. We had a T20 series back home (against England), we played a tri-series in New Zealand, so we are prepared. We have three fast bowlers and two spinners.

"Hardik Pandya just ran a lap around the 'G in the company of mind coach Paddy Upton. He inside-edged a Shardul Thakur delivery on to his knee right at the end of yesterday's nets and was walking gingerly thereafter. All clear, it would seem," adds Kaushik.

Shaheen Afridi is here. Jasprit Bumrah isn't. That is one match up which is a little skewed in favour of Pakistan. Last time around, the southpaw hoodoo-ed the Indian top-order. There might be some movement off the deck and expect Shaheen to take advantage of that. India would have laid down their plans but will the southpaw come up triumphs again? We shall see...

There is a little bit of a history at the MCG for both the teams. India reinstated in 1985 when they won the World Championship of Cricket that they were the new blue-eyed boys of cricket. Pakistan in 1992 had their greatest moment under the sun in cricket when they won the World Cup, inspired by their spirited skipper. About a lakh people are expected at the G! Both teams would be under a tremendous amount of pressure.

STAT: The last six Ind vs Pak T20Is have been all won by the side chasing with captains winning toss opting to field first every time. India winning four times and Pakistan twice.
