Convoluted? No, no.
See, Ambika has married her ātte bhāū Raghav. Daydreaming of consummation with Ambika, Raghav first tried to romance a pillar, and then Hira Ājī (his grandmother and grandmother-in-law).
Upon hearing that Ambika loved Shekhar, Raghav slept on the floor, but when his father Rangarav demanded to know whether Ambika put out, Raghav lied and said yes. Then Rangarav overheard Raghav and Ambika saying that no one needs to know about their abstinence. And Rangarav told Raghav that he plans to commit life insurance fraud by suicide, making his hypothetical grandchild the beneficiary of Rs. 10 crore.
Meanwhile, Rangarav's māme bahīṇa Sunanda and her daughter Urmila are trying to break up the newlyweds, as if Raghav's contempt for Urmila is the foundation for a prosperous marriage.
On the back burner, Ambika's brother Jayadev is in love with Vidya, but they haven't confessed, and Jayadev has agreed to marry his māme bahīṇa Ashvini in an effort to buy time until her boyfriend Abhijit can get a decent job. When Abhijit was held hostage by Shekhar's stepmother and half-sister in an effort to abduct Ambika from her wedding, Ashvini was too terrified to do anything but sleep soundly all night. Ambika managed to free herself and Abhijit, but she outran him, and we haven't seen him ever since.
The show is a bit unpredictable.

I don't watch this show that is why I find it difficult to out together the pieces.
I will give it one more try later in the week. 😊
Ashvini's parents have no compassion, let alone parental instinct ... not even common sense.
Now that they know that Ashvini has a boyfriend, they are saying that as long as she's Jayadev's wife when she runs away with Abhijit, it's not their problem. Her suicide threat is fine with them, but only after Jayadev ties the maṅgalasūtra on her.
In the real world, a girl who would disgrace her parents would be five months pregnant already. The fact that Ashvini is talking about marrying Abhijit someday when he has a good job should reassure her parents that she is not a romantic fool. They have time to investigate him, convince her to dump him, encourage Jayadev to console her ...
I thought Vishvanath and Vinita were squatting in Jayadev's house and forcing Ashvini upon him because he's rich and they're not. Now they are doing everything to ruin their prospects: making Jayadev feel punished with Ashvini ... ambushing them with a quickie wedding that is illegal because it is non-consensual ... letting Jayadev know that they'll gladly make him a widower or an abandoned husband ... Can't they see that when Ashvini is gone from Jayadev's life, he'll be free to hand over his estate to Ambika, or he could marry Vidya?
Sensibly selfish and greedy parents would capitalize on Jayadev's brotherly affection for Ashvini. If he takes it upon himself to get her married to Abhijit, they can hold him responsible for her well-being and cajole him to give her as much as he gave Ambika.
But no, it's endogamy or bust for Vishvanath and Vinita ... "I should have killed you at birth, or married you to Jayadev in your cradle!"
Ambika, who is in her second month of pregnancy by her cousin-and-husband Raghav, has already decided on a cousin-marriage for her child!
Jayadev isn't even ready to tell Vidya that he loves her, and Vishvanath and Vinita are emotionally blackmailing him to marry Ashvini, but Ambika is telling her goldfish that her brother's certain marriage to Vidya will surely produce a son. That's why Ambika wants her own child to be a daughter - the pair of cousins will grow up and get married!
What Ambika wishes for would be an ātte bahīṇa marrying her māme bhāū. As a Marathi character, it would be more natural for Ambika to imagine that she will have a son and Jayadev will have a daughter, so that ātte bhāū and māme bahīṇa could marry.
Either way, the pair would be first cousins through Ambika and Jayadev and also second cousins through Raghav and Jayadev. Their children would be more inbred than the offspring of any of the pairs in the poll.
In India, a wife being older than her husband is very uncommon; it is even the law that women may marry at the age of 18 but men may not marry until the age of 21. That's another reason why one would expect Ambika to wish for a son followed by a niece, not a daughter followed by a nephew. Since she's in such a hurry to imagine her unborn child's marriage, the child who needs to be 21 should be the older one.
Maybe this older-girl-younger-boy proposal was meant to make Ambika look progressive. However, any proposal that "our future children should be of opposite sexes so that they can marry" is heterosexist, not very progressive really.
Ludicrously, Ambika told her goldfish that since she isn't allowed to visit her parental home, her daughter's marriage to Jayadev's son will be her excuse. In other words, twenty-one years from now, Rangarav will still be forcing his wife and daughter-in-law to shun Jayadev, but Rangarav will somehow accept Jayadev's son as a match for his granddaughter!
The family feud on this show is as crazy as the endogamy!
