Why is Bachchan family respected so much?

Is it purely due to their political links, lineage, success, literary background and education and wealth?

Or there is more to it than what meets the eye?

Why do most people seem to fall at feet of Amitabh and seem to be in awe of him? Rajinikanth and Chiranjeevi also touch his feet and look at him in awe. Mithun touches his feet too. Dharmendra treats him like a younger brother and cannot stop patting his cheek, shoulder and hugging him. Earlier he used to kiss AB's forehead too. Shashi Kapoor used to treat him like brother. Javed cannot stop praising him. Aruna Irani, Ashutosh Rana gushed about his mannerisms and respectful attitude. Shatrughan Sinha gushed about his manners, sophistication, dignified attitude, punctuality and discipline despite their rivalry.

Why people respect and adore Amitabh so much and either call him saab, sir or older ones call him someone like younger brother?

I can understand audience being in awe of him due to heroic and iconoclast or strong characters he would play onscreen. Why are most industry guys and politicians also enamoured by him? Despite all his cases and controversies and outbursts of his wife, why they get so much respect in public?

You summed up your own Q in your post in the earlier lines.

It’s very hard to figure out why he’s deeply respected (atleast prima-facie) but he is. Likely that Sr has that aura & his acting prowess makes him stand out even more but as an audience, it’s very hard to pin-point as to WHY Sr, B family are treated the way they are. Most actresses/lot of heiresses really really wanted to marry into the Bachchan family. Which is why it always makes me laugh so hard when people here say “Ash downgraded.” LMFAOOOO. Nope. Jr is a golden catch in every sense of the word, esp in the society & material world we live in. On top of which, everything I’ve heard & can see, about him, he’s also genuinely a very nice person. Are the Bs regressive? Hell ya!! Are they jealous of Ash? I definitely believe so. But are they as a family “illustrious/First Family of BW” etc? Without a doubt. Those 2 things can definitely Co-exist. One has to be wilfully blind or just a hater, to not want to believe that. 🤷‍♀️

I don’t respect them much. So if other people do their just foolish. ( but it is their prerogative) but again they don’t hold value as humans for me 🤣

Here Kader Khan says Big B stopped associating w him cause he wouldn’t call him Sir

In this world you can be anything but if you have money and status then you are respected.. The criterion for respect or success here is very flawed...

Well, I never liked Bachan or respected him. I always disliked him and felt he was evil. Now reading his wrongs I realize my gut feelings was always right about him.

I am surprised by sheer respect and giddy type respect Amitabh gets. Everyone calls him Bachchan saab. Right from 80s when he was yet to complete even 2 decades in stardom.

Is it purely due to khandaan being close to likes of Gandhis, Amitabh being like a second son to Indira Gandhi and being bestie of Rajiv Gandhi and all elite schooling and education he had? And his sister in law and younger brother Ajitabh being top names in London social circuit?

I am also surprised how the hell this family managed such deep political links and gets benefits from even rival parties like BJP, SP, INC, Shiv Sena.

I understand respect but I cannot understand why Chiru and Rajini simply fall at feet of Amitabh and were only too happy to have him do cameos in their films or attend their events and Nagarjuna also went all giddy when he attended an event by Akkineni family.

I cannot understand at all why even his seniors like Dharmendra or rivals like Shatru swear by him.

I mean they are no less in icon stature. Mithun falling at his feet or admitting he offered his own blood to Mata Kali to pray for Amitabh's life when he was hospitalised post Coolie incident was too much. I have never heard of any other guy get his juniors or rivals also to pray for him or make offerings for him. The craze he incited in that age without media and social media is unimaginable. I have not seen even Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand or Dilip Kumar get this reverence.

Rajinikanth almost looks like a high school kid fascinated around Amitabh when he keeps looking at him. Almost like a man crush.

Aadesh Srivastava once said he felt for Amitabh same as what Hanuman used to feel for Lord Ram. I was like, 'huh?'

Why this level of devotion and love?

Is Amitabh that nice or helpful or charismatic and endearing in real life?

I have not seen any other Hindi cinema star get respect that Amitabh does. Not even Dilip K, Dev Anand, Raj Kapoor had so many stars and politicians at their feet. Literally. Nor Rajesh Khanna had colleagues or rivals gush about him or fall at his feet.

Amitabh has people gushing about him and calling him role model.
