I do remember Rani tried her best to get close to Bachchans and would gush about them, do lot of films with them and hug senior and junior Bachchan men everywhere at award shows and photo shoots and would touch feet of Jaya also. Apparently she did with Ash too, the whole Salman relationship + Salman- Vivek catastrophe was what Jaya was absolutely against. But there was an article that said that apparently Jr quoted Tina Ambani to Jaya & said “see Tina aunty had a past too but look she got married to Anil uncle” or something along those lines. Plus Sr, for his own reasons, pushed Ash’s entry into their family SUPER HARD. I really doubt Jaya could’ve a problem after that. Shweta B, Jr themselves say that Sr takes a lot/most decisions in their family.

Amitabh was always more fond of Aishwarya and called her most beautiful face and perfect face and once even said he would have loved to romance her onscreen and regrets why he is old now.

I guess he was also keen to raise profile of his family and brand value associating with a global star like Ash. Abhishek, to be fair, got more global exposure thanks to Ash and got to be at Cannes and Oprah show.

Bachchans would have not benefitted much from marrying Abhishek to someone more local like Rani.

Given how they had chosen Karishma for Abhishek earlier, it was clear they wanted big, high profile name to be their DIL and someone from a big family or background.

I can totally imagine Abhishek using Tina Ambani as an example. Tina had a colourful past and lived in with Rajesh Khanna and was older than Anil too but she got married to him and they stayed married till date.

This is also true. Rani's husband is way more powerful than Ash's family and gets her films tailor made for her till date while Ash barely gets work in BW.

Showed her place is not a word to use for her given how powerful Rani's husband is. Bachchans will be forgotten and not talked of once Sr Bachchan is no more. Whereas Chopras are BW royalty and run most powerful production house of South Asia.

Lol even so, the B family is the most respected family in BW, Jaya is an active politician & Sr has powerful political links. So no. She did show Rani “her place.” Also, I was talking about 2006-7, when Rani wasn’t the YRF “Maalkin.” That’s when Ash- Jr got engaged & married, and Rani was struggling to gain validity of her relationship with Chopra. Fact is, both married into very powerful families, ofc Chopras are very powerful too & far more moneyed than the Bs, but don’t under-estimate the Bs. They curate their family friends extremelyyyy closely. Am sure all these BW types wanted to suck face with the Ambanis but who had the foresight to endear himself to them/Ambani Sr & become very close family friends with them? Amitabh Bachchan.

Also, Chopra is too much of a wily producer & director to just make movies ONLY for his wife. 😆 It’s b/c Rani is a powerful actor + brings him adequate revenue that he continues getting movies made for her. No-one is going to go beyond a few films for someone, even his own WIFE, if they don’t bring in the adequate revenue. If they do, they’re merely fool-hardy & will yank their business. It’s all in the money, honey! (Esp in BW) He isn’t Tata/Ambani where he can go around just throwing money on his wife’s projects. 😆😆

I think the Bachchans always loved Ash. They know Ash is a traditional Indian woman and I think they'd want that for their son. Plus they knew Ash personally so she wasn't just Abhi's girlfriend.

It's going to be the most boring biography. She'll talk about how they weren't well off before she became an actress, how money was tight etc.. Then she'll talk about her movie career and marriage. Will brush everything else under the carpet.

I am confused about her affairs with AdiC and JrB, she apparently started dating AdiC around Veer Zara - wasn't she dating JrB around that time or had they broken up by then?
