Amitabh is biggest star purely due to his high profile political links both in India and abroad. He got cream of scripts and favours from govt.

Of course he has talent and charisma but his political connections made him the longest lasting icon he is. Doordarshan used to show his films more than any other actor. So much so that for 90s generation he is the only old time star whose films they saw on TV. He was also given state honours and national awards at a comparatively younger age. Which other actor can boast of playing in backyard of Indira G and have Rajiv Gandhi as his bachpan ka langotiya yaar?

I would say Kamal Haasan is also kinda pretentious and so is Naseer. Among women I find Shabana to be pretentious too.

Aamir Khan on this poll & in general! Incredibly pretentious & lacks depth though he always wants to convince everyone how intelligent & intellectual he is. My armchair psychological theory on him is that he always chooses genuinely very intelligent women to compensate for his own insecurities lol.

Yes both his wives were way more educated and nerdy than him and educated at top colleges and unis. Unlike him who is 12th dropout.

He claims he is well read and voracious reader but somehow the way he speaks or writes is so bad that one finds it hard to believe he is well read. He is a poor communicator.

No I don’t say they’re very intelligent b/c they went to good unis etc. Education is no way an indicator of actual intelligence & I really wish people would stop making it out to be, esp in India where all we do is rote learning. Coming back to it, his ex-wives are clearly very intelligent esp Kiran Rao, but Aamir despite his pretentiousness & need for “deep” movies has never struck me to be intelligent. SRK trumps him any damn day. Even Saif, Jim Sarbh, RS, HR are actually intelligent. Aamir isn’t & it’s his need to put on such airs that makes him annoying to me. Totally agreed that he’s a bad communicator.

Reena and Kiran are intelligent otherwise too. I only quoted their educational qualifications as an add on.

Otherwise marks or a top uni tag does not always mean intelligence.

Reena and Kiran have also been more mature and emotionally sorted compared to Aamir who cried in media after both divorces and behaved like a victim. The wives never cried out in front of media and conduct themselves better in public.

Aamir hardly knows about any issue in detail. Except filmmaking. He picks and drops causes at whim depending on film he is doing on that subject.
