Unfair to compare with SRK or his time. There were no daily soaps and long running serials in his time which is why SRK never got typecast. He also did youth shows like Fauji and Circus which were not typical saas, bahu, beta, damaad shows. So he was never typecast nor aged onscreen unlike today's actors who get stereotyped badly as damaad or jamai or dad and age onscreen, playing dad or grandpa roles in 20s or 30s in daily soaps.

Trend of serials having re runs on TV also keeps actor stereotyped like Mohit Raina is still Mahadev for most people and is unable to shake off that image.

I agree TV actors should not blame BW and lot of them lack talent, creativity and originality or charisma and copy other actors a lot. But it is also not fair to compare them to times of 1980s and 1990s actors who were thankfully not trapped in image of a character in long running daily soaps.

the standards have fallen in acting, asha parekh was given dada saheb phalke, she was considered just a pretty face with hit movie songs in the midst of likes of nutan, meena kumari etc

today her perfromances in films like kati patang will be all time great

even actresses like raveena, rati agnihotri, were never known for acting, now they will be considered super talented

even action heros like dharam, mithun, even hrithik could carry diverse roles, mithun played a naxalite, ramakrishna paramhansa, what about tiger shroff today

the equivalent of govinda who was more of a comedian hero is varun dhawan today

the performances are mediocre and below nowadays

the day looks and style became important this happened

some times I feel are we like older gen who keep harping about good ol days but I dont think so

even in 2000s, movies like lagaan, dil chahta hain, even dangal, company, satya, chak de had universal acclaim, when we came out of the theater we said wow, that is really worth watching

audience is also being guilted, see how much effort they made on brahmastra, they tried something new so like it, it was ok movie with some fun scenes but family freindly which is lacking nowadays thats it

as you said, none of these films or songs will stand test of time

we have now reached a stage where we have started accepting and saying mediocrity is ok, the performance didnt ruin the movie so is fine, the audience is too harsh, you are just harping on old times etc

Old is not gold but new stuff is so shitty that even passable stuff of yore seems better in comparison.

It has been ages since we last had a good gangster film like Satya. And Satya is not vulgar. Unlike cheapo shit Shootout series.

Old filmmakers have also lost their mojo it seems.

Today even his weak film like Mast seems better.

Earlier all actors were unique. Today they all seem to have same trainer, same plastic surgeon, same stylist. I cannot even distinguish who is who.

I doubt if masses know difference between Tara, Vaani, Disha etc or know Ananya, Radhika, Tripti etc much as they even knew other actresses of past.
