I am sorry but she did not deserve this award. I know she has given lot of hits and has been producer, social worker, actor, dancer, worked on TV too but the highest award is probably a bit too much for her. Asha was never an iconic actress of stature of Nutan or Nargis or Hema, Rekha, Madhubala, Devika Rani etc.

I know she has worked a lot for retired cine artistes too but the highest award in cinema for her from GoI is a bit of stretch considering her films were mostly musicals or her acting was above average and her stardom was never of level of Hema or Sri or MD or Madhubala nor her acting was of Nargis or Smita level.
