She is my favourite and l’ve always said that she is very underrated. Her voice is so unique and has haunting quality to it, it’s a woman’s voice not a girl’s. I have a whole playlist of her songs and they always lift my mood up. But I seriously hope that she gets to sing more often.

I’ve always always wondered this myself!!!! She’s got a FANTASTIC voice!!! I literally drool over her & Papon’s voice. She really should do more songs & BW playbacks. Maybe she doesn’t network well/as much?

BW anyway has a fascination for squeally, shrieking voices like Ghoshal,Yagnik, Mangeshkar etc. (I know I know, it’s sacrilege to compare Mangeshkar to these 2) but I could never warm upto her voice either. Way too saccharine sweet! Thank God atleast Sunidhi Chauhan (another one with a damn good voice) made it.

Yes. And being visible and projecting an ‘image’ of sorts is very imp. She doesn’t even appear in reality shows like Indian Idol. Talent alone isn’t enough. But if she’s happy staying low-key, it doesn’t matter.

I used to listen to Ek Lau all the time and now I keep listening to Par Chana de which she sang for Pakistan Coke Studio.

Her voice is so distinct.

Shilpa has such a unique voice.

I also like Bhoomi Trivedi ever since she came on Indian Idol. She has such a great voice. It's sad that she isn't popular enough.

Point to be noted that it’s BWs obsession with Lata ji which conditioned us to believe that an extremely feminine voice = sickly sweet. It became the norm.

I think she is fairly popular and sings regularly. She is Vishal-Shekhar's favourite. She has a song in Pathan too I think.

She won Filmfare Award for Ghungroo that too against Shreya's Ghar More Pardesiya.
