Why are Vicky movies being dumped on OTT? Has he become an OTT star?

I like Vicky as an actor, but why this?

Vicky is more concern for Acting Awards, which he will get aisey hi.

Apparently his next movie govinda mera naam is also going to be on ott, thats 3 back to back movies of vickys that are on ott

Sids mission majnu and shahids bloody daddy are also going to release on ott.

I guess this is more of a safer route for producers, they make a profit this way whereas releasing in theatres there is a fear of a loss

It’s a combination of several things.

Vicky only has Uri to his name as a big movie so he hasn’t necessarily proven himself as a bankable star. The pandemic and lockdown messed up a lot of release dates and times and smaller movies with non-top stars got lost in between. OTT can still do wonders for a movie and the actor and raise their profile significantly so actors don’t really lose much.

All of these apply to Sid as well.

Both MM and GMN had dates in May and July of this year respectively. But May was taken over by YRF for Jayeshbai and I don’t remember what happened with the July release date. Both these movies were in limbo for months until the makers finally decided on OTT.
