Javed specializes in Urdu. If this movie is based on Hindu mythology then they require someone who knows actual Sanskrit very well.

For me it is like bahubali experience. I hate the creepy love story in bahubali part one and only liked second half (battle part) of the movie but second one won me over with its writing and visuals. I’m positive if we do get part two, it’ll be amazing with dev and Amrita’s story and battle between dev and shiva !! So yes I’m excited for it.

Also Amrita is Deepika, there was a glimpse Shown in the movie ..can’t share the picture but it is floating on Twitter.

Wait I just read the whole review and everyone is saying deepika is Amrita 🤣🤣
Matlab ex bhi and wife bhi in the same movie. Who else is coming? Karan ka whole gang will be part of this movie Kya 🤣 I am surprised how Kajol is not part of this movie or gauri.

I’m back in the lions nest lol 😂!! I will review spoil as it’s titled but I want to right now say I liked the villains esp the vamp Mouni Roy she nailed her part to the tee!! She gave me shivers n her get up wow just the way black widow ( grey character) nails her role every time !!

The rest will talk on later as it needs to sink in!!

Brahmastra was essentially sold to us as an ode to Indian culture/mythology. We were going to get an Astraverse, everything looks fantastic on paper but it takes a skilled director/ screenplay writer to present this on screen, which I believe Ayan is not and its so sad that a concept like this was wasted on a damned love story

Problems I had with this film:-

1) Dialogues - When I watched YJHD, I loved it and dialogues like “Teri Maa Ka Lara” would always make you laugh because however cringe it sounds without context, it blends well with the character arc. I believe, they went into full on YJHD mode with Shiva and every other character

2) Alia Bhatt - Alia is a good performer but what a let down, she was unbearable on screen as Isha. She was reduced to love interest and kept asking “Kaun Ho Tum” here and there and would yell “Shivaaaa” for no reason at all. We KNOW his name is Shiva, calm your tits down woman

3) Mohan Bhargav - As someone who loves Shah, This name hits a different nerve of nostalgia for me. Shah’s name in the film is Mohan Bhargav and his character is of a scientist, which I believe was an attempt to present an extension of Swades. I loved watching Shah on big screen after a long time but his dialogues were bad too, he is Mohan Bhargav FFS, He won’t talk like that

4) Ranbir Kapoor - I hate to say this but the man looked exhausted on screen, the charm of Ranbir Kapoor was missing for some reason. I haven’t seen all of his films so I am not sure how he is in action sequences but it didn’t come out like something we have seen in recent action films

5) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Astraverse - Stars because everything else would have been bearable if this part was handled carefully. They don’t tell us anything about mythological aspect of Astras, they don’t tell us how Astras work and how they are passed through generations. They didn’t put an effort here

It felt like Ayan binged Netflix instead of writing screenplay and when he was close to the deadline, he decided to add subplots from Harry Potter, Avengers and Game of Thrones which explains why he couldn’t come up with an explanation for Astras

Lifting scenes is not an issue for me because we have seen it in every film but the problem I had was that a huge portion of the film was love story so apart from love story, we had a few subplots and they lifted it from popular films/shows, so you kind of feel like they didn’t really spend enough time in setting up this Astraverse

The screenplay doesn’t help you connect with the character so we have this scene where Shiva gets a vision that Nagarjuna will be attacked by Mouni. They go to Varanasi to save him and we have Kesariya song there

So, am I supposed to enjoy this song while I am told that Junoon is going to attack an important character?

Shah's special appearance had him fighting with two members of Mouni's gang and throughout the fight he kept calling them "Cheetah" "Genda" "Elephant", It felt like Ayan sat and watched Marvel films in Hindi and thought this is how dialogues are written for Hindi films
