Brahmastra Has Highest Non Holiday Opening Day Of All Time

Brahmastra has had a huge first day as it collects around 35-36 crore nett in all its versions which is the highest opening day in history on a non holiday for original Hindi content. The only film to do more on a non holiday was Bahubali - The Conclusion. The film will collect around 32-33 crore nett in Hindi with another 3 crore nett coming in languages. The film has managed to collect well in Telugu if we compare numbers with other Hindi films. The film may collect around 9-10 crore nett in South India which will be a record for a Hindi film though obviously a far bigger release than other Hindi films.

The stand out is Nizam Andhra as it heads for a 5.50 crore nett first day in all languages.and the record collections for Nizam / Andhra for a Hindi film are the 25 crore nett of Dangal which includes a little in Telugu. This film will beat that Telugu number in two days flat and also the record of Dhoom 3 in Telugu. Both the big circuits of South (Nizam / Andhra, Mysore) have scored well aided by a minor holiday. Mumbai has also done extraordinary well.

Simply put it is a phenomenal opening day for the film with advances looking super solid for Saturday though the holiday places may drop a little. The Hindi belts are comparatively less compared to Mumbai and South but still they done very good business even the mass circuits. The reason for Mumbai and South doing better than the rest is holiday factor and having more metros with 3D screenings like Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

The film has broken all the myths of the industry of the past few months with boycotts and high ticket pricing stopping audiences coming to cinemas. The collections coming in from overseas are also extraordinary and the film may do a $8-10 million weekend which would be phenomenal and also close to record levels. Also it has to be noted that numbers are coming with a BRAND or FRANCHISE and today branding is the biggest star which can take numbers to a different level.
