Never compared them before but you are right. Both always had/have a know it all attitude and no filters. But while Rishi always presented an image of a family man (affairs’ rumors not withstanding) and sort of bragged about being conservatives Mahesh brags about being a liberal, write articles about his affair with Parvin Babi and says things like marriage is an archaic institution.

Mahesh was a great filmmaker and has made some great contributions to Hindi cinema. But unfortunately he’s more known for his controversial comments. It does appear that after SSR’s death and his stupid and arrogant statement on that his family (more than likely Alia since it affected her the most) has put a muzzle on him. He’s been pretty quiet in recent times.

Another common factor is that both of whom had adulterous absentee fathers which affected them in different ways. And both have been frank about their respective fathers. In a way it is a pity to muzzle him though it's necessary. We need people who don't give a damn and tell the truth bluntly. His Koffee with Karan interview with Emraan was a delight.Karan even repeated his sarcastic comments about Alia's bridesmaids -much to Alia's embarrassment.

What did he say about Alia’s bridesmaids?

His honestly and don’t give a damn attitude can be very refreshing, but at the same time he can definitely cross a line. Declaring Sushant schizophrenic within days of his death when he had absolutely no qualifications or right to do so was definitely crossing a line. He got lucky Sushant’s family didn’t sue him over it and drag him to courts for years.

Xthe casting couch etc does not make them "marriage material" which is why somebody like the kapoors did nor want their daughters to work in movies

the only ones who circumvented it were those with illustrious backgrounds like sharmila tagore

look at the all the women then, either married much below wealth, stature, etc an sometime totally down and out ppl like zeenat or second wives (hema, sridevi) some got lucky like nargis

yes, zeenat was a very sad case, you can see the damage to her eye even now,

that is why i saw some say that what happened to sanjay khan (the tipu sultan fire) is karma

she later faced a lot of abuse with mazhar too

She later went on to marry Mazhar Khan

But if you look at her later pics her face still looks good... It's the physical abuse from Mazhar Khah that damaged her face and eye

Yes the economic reform of 1991 turned things around so dramatically for India, made it so prosperous (compared to before) so quickly

Many Middle class homes didn't own a TV set back then...

I guess they mean what happened to him and not the others, he collapsed financially too after that I think

yes , true, she had many issues after mazhar too, never had a peaceful life

Most fathers get emotional and teary eyed during their daughter's wedding. Not Mahesh. Apparently when Alia came to the mandap with her bridesmaids, he commented that the bridesmaids looked ridiculous or weird. I don't remember his exact words. He probably considers all the rituals as nonsense and maybe would have been more happy with a court wedding. Karan narrated it during this season's Koffee with Karan - the Alia Ranveer episode. That's when him and Ranveer decided that they wanted a Kapoor-Bhatt reality show.

I also detest how he milked the whole parveen babi episode and his obsession made so many movies based and monetized it with no regard for her privacy and mental state

Plastic surgery is a choice... we can not judge them by what they do to their own bodies ( good or bad)

Of course but most of the time they look better without the surgery and you can tell that theyve done surgery so i feel its just a waste of money

Unless of course you have an injury or scar where surgery is understandable
