That is the central problem plaguing this plot right now.
Misunderstandings are nothing new in the drama that drives ITV shows....but usually each set of MUs are meant to grow the characters or their relationship in some way. Here, it feels like Dev-Vidhi are totally static and just go through a rinse/repeat cycle of MU-ing and then easily forgetting the issue and going back to square one.
The main disconnect is that Dev knowingly hired Vidhi knowing how naive and sheltered she is as a person....yet he hardly ever considers that a factor when people try to present a twisted picture of Vidhi to him....he easily entertains Kanika-Yogesh ki bakwaas each time with barely a token pushback. I'm not saying he needs to become some grand defender of Vidhi but shouldn't he have the ability to think for himself as a person rather than so easily getting drawn into whatever a Kanika or a Yogesh say about her in the office? And what does it say about him that he has such CATTY people as his best friends? 😆this!! We have talked about this earlier too but so much word to this..bhai Khali honesty ka kya karoge jab 2 paise ka bharosa nahi hai. Again her rishte ki neev vishwas hai..what irritates me is exactly this that YOU HIRED HER. You talked her I to it when she wasn't exactly looking for a job. You promised her parents and gave them your word so doesn't your own word count for anything..ek taraf you keep repeating she is the one you feels like telling things caz you have trust her byt then doesn't do ek paise ka bhi harosa bhai worst se worst ML's and yes boss trope has shown itna toh bharosa in FL in these situations like how easy it was for hin to beleive ke she is spreading the rumors about them when the so called friends lied to him that he felt the need go confirm with her ghuma ke..these things are off-putting caz jab tumne zimmedari li hai toh itna toh bol hi Saito ho strongly and stand for gidhi..plz pick a side either you just say it caz hero and all or you actually believe what you say and again as we have discussed earlier too his character is shown to be perceptive and he feels like isko logkn ki pehchaan hai but ghanta pehchaan hai when he is surrounded by cheapness like that yogesh kanika and rishabh and generally a lot of other staff of the office.. sab milke har tarah se use kar tahe hain chuna laga rahe hain but he keeps mingling and being oh i have 100% faith whe any idiot can tell the kind of people they are..itna bhi fair judgement nahi hai iska about his beasties.. had it been kept only professional relationship toh bhi one can say ok nahi pata chala but they are practically shown as his besties the k know it all. But none if them can actually figure out that they are cheating him this openly in everything way woh maa bhi waise toh bada bolti hai about her life experiences and all but pehchaan mahi paati .matlab hadh hai ke yeh log Priya ki badtameeziyan bhi aise sehte hain jaise uske ghulam hain she continues doing it and again wahin saabit ho gaya kitna pata hai inhe kisi ki pdosnality ka..abhi bhi the whole family seems to have taken a liking for vidhi but baat wohi hai ke jab bharosa ka aayega toh kuch nahi. Defender ya bhashan I'd not needed but kamse kam itna toh dikhao ke questions that why peopme keep saying that or his conflict woth whether others are right ot wrong just ek simple nah I trust her firmly is enough too and not like ek baat main shak kar lia the more he is spending time with her the more easier it is for him to act as a stranger and be like you this you that whatever is spoonfed to him he blurts it without investigating on his own when exactly he is the one who knows her personality issues and not like it was a one time thing she keeps candidly telling him those about her fear about how her brain switches off anxiety takes over but nah usko bhashan deke on remaining calm and focus bhi bharosa nahi karna
And then there's Vidhi who has made up a whole fantasy in her head about Dev, his wife, his kid....lol and she so easily trusts anything Kanika says to her even after Kanika has misbehaved with her so many times.....lol where does her honesty go when she is assessing someone? Honesty doesn't factor past situations in?
Chalo I wouldn't even mind how contrived the MUs are if they were all leading towards some growth....but are they? I really can't say given the pattern from the last few promos.....they make it appear like Dev realizes he MU'ed Vidhi, he apologizes and then nothing really changes....it's on to the next MU and him distrusting her or berating her again. This makes it very difficult to invest in the story or the scenes cuz one can't help but think about the next flip from Dev around the corner that undoes any semblance of "trust" he claims to feel in Vidhi.
The writers have made it difficult to feel any kind of trust or reliance towards his character now. Unless they build some consistency in Dev-Vidhi's relationship, it's hard to connect.
