Should bollywood reduce the budgets of their films?

It seems like for the time being this might be the only way to recover from the loss. They clearly don't have as large of loyal audience base as they once had. Much of the audience they lost to the south. But lot's of other forms of regional cinema formed and the regional audience is more loyal to their region. I know I personally feel more connected to my roots which I miss being abroad when I am watching a film of my own region.

Bollywood needs a strategy to regain the loyal audience they have lost. Until then if they don't want to collapse it might be smart to try to make low budget movies.

I don’t think that’s a solution plus Bollywood is known to be larger then live and that’s what most movie goers want. They want to escape the realities n be entertained which requires investing time n money. Low budget movies don’t have much on a reach.

Still don't think taking 400 crore risk with Brasmashtra is worth it at this time?

This film has all been building since 2014. I don’t think then they thought this would take very long or Hindi films would become increasingly less successful.

Overall your right. But alot of films for some time now cut costs. Actors taking less or nothing (to be paid later) I guess shooting in only India might be another thing they can do. Which some have done.

Punjabi films manage to pay actors, shoot abroad and everything within 15 crore. I mean Hindi cinema does not have to cut budgets by that much. But let’s around 40 crore max!

yes sita ramam is beautifully shot but cost 30 crore, even shyam singha roy the bengal period portions were done so well for less budget

jersey telugu was 25 cr, hindi 80 crs why? they are shooting in the same country, it is not like labor cost is more

vikram veda original is 11 crores, hindi is 175 crores , will the returns be 10 times more

only movies with huge vfx need such high budgets like rrr, baahubali, brahmastra, adi purush

its not like the producers are idiots, which means as somebody rightly said it is money laundering racket

Exactly I think because traditionally Bollywood was considered the bigger industry the celebs required more pay and are already too used to a certain lifestyle. But you have to adapt to the times.
