Wanted to add one more point on your theory no 2.
If Dhara, a well liked character is to stay on as great-great- great grandmother then Dhara will become pregnant and have a baby girl. Fast forward few years of leap and we will see Dhara daughter (played by leadben) as 20 something year old looking to settle and get married.
There, new story with new characters with new lead role intact either way. 😆
Hmm... 😒 I think your idea of creating a Dhara 2.0 could work.
Dhara could become pregnant and lose the baby (since it seems to be such a popular trope of losing babies, and Dhara has done a poor job watching over Chiku, so totally plausible for such a thing to happen) and Dhara 2.0 could grow up with an ex-convict--beginning bhagodi ki beti 2.0.
Chiku could grow up as the handsome male lead who is in love with Anita's (I'm reviving her character) daughter (I'll name her Sarita who like her mother is a vamp), but when he goes off on a college excursion or something, he somehow gets involved in the village politics, and the villagers force him to marry Dhara 2.0 (kind of like in Imlie). He's not into Dhara 2.0, but because he married her, he brings her back to the Pandya house.
Dhara 1.0 (played by a new woman who isn't afraid of gray hairs) is seen praying for Dhara 2.0's return, and the moment Dhara 2.0 steps into the house, all the diya's light up and a flower falls from the god's hand into Dhara 1.0's hands making her feel hopeful.
DevTa go onto having another son, and ShiVi have twin boys (we never get to see their SR because the makers are awful like that). So Chiku is the oldest brother to DevTa's daughter and son, and ShiVi's twins replacing the feel of Gautaum, Dev, Shiva, and Krish. Krish meanwhile is still in love failure, so he is just the old uncle coming in here and there offering comedic relief.
