Which records did they break? It was more because the older heros didn’t want to embarrass themselves acting like 30 year olds running around the trees and so they either retired or moved on to the age appropriate roles. Only AB hung on for a little longer but even he had to succumb to the age. There were no VFX, Botox and these other fixers that the current lot is heavily banking on. Still they are going through the similar phase that AB, Dilip and DevAnand went through and eventually they will have to bow down.

No Khan film record will be broken for a while because economy is down. Audience doesn't have the interest to see anyone, but they are less happy with Aamir, SRK, Salman.

Ok let's discuss, why I said all that.

1. Aamir made a debut in 1988, QSQT, film was Superhit, he became quite popular with youth along with Juhi Chawla.

2. Year 1989 - Salman debut with Biggest HIT of that Year, Biggest HIT of the Decade, An All Time Grosser which broke SHOLAY's Net Collection. This was done with Debut film crossing 15 Cr of 1975 biggest hit Sholay's collection.

3. Year 1994 - Salman gave another Biggest ATG - HAHK, which not only broke every record set by Seniors, but he broke it with Huge margins. A Success of that scale was enough to put all Senior actors on backfoot in terms of collection. Film Collected massive 74 Cr, which in today's time is difficult to cross.

4. Year 1995 - SRK's DDLJ became ATBB, smashing all records once again, coming 2nd to HAHK, but crossing all Seniors films record in terms of nett collection, huge 53 Cr.

5. Year 1996 - Raja Hindustani coming 3rd in ATG Net Collection list having 43 Cr.

From 1988-1999

It was KHAN Trio, Sunny Deol, Govinda, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, all have replaced Seniors in every way possible, in a true way OVERTAKEN.

None of this kind has happen yet, when it will happen that will be indication as now Audience wants to see younger stars more & more.

How do Records happen, Audience repeatedly watch movies, that craze none of the young star is able to RECREATE which Salman/Aamir has done from 2010-2019, let alone previous years films.

Before MPK break BO Records, all Major BO records were held by Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra, Dilip Kumar.

Even if they were doing secondary roles, father/brother kind, but still no other young stars have come to BO Success like they had from 70s-80s, so it was important that someone should give films which are on that level of BO Success to completely overtake their position as Superstars or stars for whom ppl will rush to cinema halls.

So when Khan films started making such huge numbers at Box Office, it was clear that audience has completely welcome them with open mind & yes, they made them such huge stars which Rajesh Khanna, Dilip Kumar, Amitabh had enjoyed that stardom from yesteryear's time.

apart from khans akshay kumar govinda sunil shetty too were there

some were on top some faded away

those times were different or may be the newer lot does not have that much star power to draw people

but even in those days movies used to flop at the same time run for weeks years

they say we will release after 3-6 months on OTT now if movie is not running in theatres why wait so long to release it online then again comes the boycott gang issue

people are going gaga over raksha bandhan but even that is not working - the poor execution and boring lectures are put off only some 2-3 scenes were good

arre baba...I am not denying that they won the audiences’ hearts,kidneys and livers but they didn’t replace anyone because the previous lot was already on their way out and that’s one of the reasons these guys got instantly accepted. Even now I don’t think the current older lot are the reason the newer ones are finding it difficult to find acceptance. But they just have to eventually bow out and stop misusing the VFX if the audience stop watching their movies.

As I said in earlier post, yes, they senior stars were no longer were playing main hero lead roles which they did in 70s, or later on in 80s, but what was important that younger ones had to prove that status quotient by giving much bigger box office success films. That is what I am saying, young ones have to cross films like Sultan, PK, TZH, Dangal & with large margins to make a stand that yes now Khans, kumar, devgn are over.

We are talking about young stars, abhi tak Khans ki film Kumar, Devgn, Hrithik or any other star se bhi cross nahi hui.

Yes, they will stop using VFX, or other things, eventually in 3-4 years they might not even come in hero roles, even then they equation or target will be to give major 400-500 cr films at regular intervals & with consistency. Magnitude of Success will only prove that current biggies are overtaken.

Lmao, let the 3-crore opening self-proclaimed superstars bow out first. Then we will worry about the others.
