I am not that talented re. Its an old song by artist Jim Croce. I heard it first time in a show called love story which used to come on sab tv. They used their own hindi version but then i googled the original song and fell in love with it❤️

CHAPTER 39 Reborn

"Have you found anything new and inspirational?" Mini asked as she hugged Neil around the waist.

"No, nothing yet. I never thought I will go from this phase where I will be craving to make music but nothing will come to my mind." Neil sighed in disappointment.

"Relax! Dont be too tough on yourself. It happens with every creative person. Like writers have writers block, batsman have bad form, painters lack inspiration etc. same is happening to you. I am sure it will go away soon." Mini tried to cheer him up.

"Ya, I know but its like...frustrating. I have never been away from music this long. First my health then mental trauma then performance anxiety....and when finally I was ready for it now this ...lack of inspiration/new ideas....whatever it is. Have I really lost it...the charisma...the talent?" Neil shared his nervousness.

Mini felt bad for him. She wanted to cheer him up. So she put her hand on her tummy and started talking to her baby. "Are you listening to your papa bachha? Isnt he too much of drama queen?"

"Huh! What? Drama queen! me?" Neil asked offended.

"Did you hear that bachha? One of best singer of this generation, superb musician, one and only The Rockstar Neil Oberoi is saying that does he still have it in him? Can you believe that now?" Mini again talked to her baby.

"Ya...now who is drama queen? Bachha tell your mumma ki papa ki thodi to kam tareef karo woh itne bhi great nahi hain. No need to boast my ego this much." Neil complained immediately forgetting his distress and engaged in this banter with Mini. Lately it was both of theirs favourite thing to talk to their unborn baby. It mostly included silly complaints against each other.

"Ab papa hai hi tareef ke kabil to mumma kyu na kare? Actually na bas papa thode se stupid hai...I mean thode jyada hi stupid hain. Bar bar unhe yaad dilana padta hai unke talents." Mini continued the conversation.

"Achha aisi baat hai....main stupid hoon....stupid...really?" Neil gasped as acted of being offended by her words.

"Neil...I didnt mean it that way. I was just..." Mini didnt get he was just pretending.

"Just what huh...what..." Neil stood up from his place and turned around hiding his smile.

"I was just telling our baby that you are very talented. You have the skills and you...." Mini stopped in between when she noticed Neil was trying hard to not laugh.

"....You...Neil Oberoi....majaak kar rahe the...tumhe to main....nahi chhodungi..." Mini grabbed the pillow and threw it on Neil.

He ducked and escaped. Mini grabbed another pillow and ran behind him. Neil kept escaping teasing her more. Some pillows were now lying on the floor. Mini was aiming another pillow on Neil when she slipped on the pillow lying on the floor. She gasped as she realized she is about to fall. She put her hand on her tummy instinctively to save her baby but before she could have touched the ground she found herself in neil's arms.

"Are you alright love?" Neil asked in concern.

Mini touched her tummy again to make sure everything is alright. She didnt hit the ground. Then she nodded her head. "I am fine, baby is fine also."

"I am so sorry. I should have been careful. I guess we should start being more cautious. No silly fights and running around the house anymore." Neil shared his worries.

"Hmm, but you are still stupid." Mini said to lighten the mood.

"You decide first, am I stupid or talented?" Neil also smiled in relief and again started their banter.

"You are talented stupid." Mini declared and Neil laughed with her. He carried her in his arms and placed her on the bed carefully. He then sat next to her caressing her hair.

"Dont worry baby. I know you will soon find some interesting idea for your next song. Dont doubt on yourself." Mini assured him as she kissed his hand.

"Thanks for motivating me always. I dont know what would I do without you..." Neil kissed Mini's forehead. He then bent down and placed a kiss on her tummy also. "..and you too now. I love you my baccha. papa will never disappoint you."

Neil and Mickey were working on the new song. Neil was playing the tune on guitar. He has also written some words for it.

"Achha to hai yaar. I think we should continue it." Mickey commented on listening draft song.

"No yaar...woh baat nahi hai. This will be my comeback song and I want to be special. Aisa jo seedhe dil ko chhue. We have done song like this in past also. kuch naya nahi hai." Neil expressed his views.

They both were lost in their thoughts when Neil heard a voice. Mickey too heard it. The voice was right combination of sweet and husky. It had an captivating quality. Mickey focused on it and identified it as classical alaap. Since both of them were working at home only, they didnt take much time in realizing that its Arya's voice. The realization came as a mild surprise as both of them almost forgotten that Arya was actually a trained classical singer.

"This is Arya right? God! How can I forget, she helped us getting through that reality show." Mickey said with smile remembering the old times.

"ya, actually ever since we have met her again she hadnt sing or practiced so I almost forgot how good she was at it." Neil agreed.

Both of them stood up and went outside where Arya was practicing in the garden. Mini was also sitting in the garden with some wool and knitting kit. She was trying to learn knitting these days as she wanted to make socks and sweater for the baby by her own hands. Neil saw her and smiled. Mini was enjoying the sunlight. Her cheeks had turned more pink and there was already a glow on her face. Neil thanked God in his heart for allowing him to see this day.

Neil again concentrated on Arya's voice. Her eyes were closed and she was totally engrossed in her alaap. Mickey and Neil both sat there to listen to her. Once she finished she opened her eyes to notice that everyone is looking at her.

"What....what happen? why you all are looking at me like this?" Arya raised an eyebrow.

"Nothing. Was just listening to you. You are such am amazing singer." Mickey praised her.

"Yes, have heard you sing after so long. Why did you stopped practicing?" Neil questioned.

"She didnt stop. It was due to her health." Mini informed.

"Yes, that time I was not in a condition to practice and also stopped going to music school so...but now I am fit and fine so thought why not start it again." Arya answered.

"And what a moment you chose for it chhutanki. You know we were just working for our next song. Nothing was clicking and then we heard you sing." Neil shared excitedly.

"So...?" Arya didnt get what he meant.

Neil looked at Mickey expectantly but he was also confused. Neil rolled his eyes at both of them.

"Dont you get it? This is supercool idea. We will collaborate for a new song. A fusion. Classical and heavy metal together. It will be refreshing, new and minblowing." Neil shared his idea and saw immediately Mickey's eyes shine in excitement.

"Wow! Superb yaar. I am sure it will be fantastic. Lets work on it." Mickey declared.

"Oh Hello! koi mujhse bhi to puchho." Arya reminded them of her presence.

"Arre isme puchhna kya hai. It will be a good opportunity for you too." Mini explained as she was happy for her sister.

"Yahi to problem hai. This is too big opportunity. I mean tum logo ke sath collaboration. Are you serious. You are rockstars...the Hurricane and who am I? Nobody." Arya shared her concerns.

"Dont say this. You have worked with us previously also and dont be so modest. You are very talented." Mickey tried to persuade.

"But that was a reality show, I was just a proxy for that too in selection round. You were not celebrity back then. And I have been out of practice since so long." Arya was nervous about the idea.

"Hey chhutanki! Dont underestimate yourself. And you will have enough time to practice again, its not like we are releasing song today itself. celebrity hone ya na hone se koi fark nahi padta, you havhe talent thats important, we trust you...you trust yourself. Aur hum bhi itne lambe gap ke baad pehli bar hi perform karenge....its a comeback for us also. We are as nervous as you. Please maan jao." Neil tried to convince her.

Arya was getting convinced but still was nervous. She looked at Mini for final answer and Mini nodded her head encouraging her, Neil held her hands in assurance. All this gave her much needed confidence and finally she said yes.

"what the hell does that suppose to mean? How can you just say no? I am telling you this is a mistake. Hey...listen you..." Before Mickey could complete his sentence the phone was cut and he could do nothing but sigh.

"What did he say?" Mini inquired apprehensively.

"Same like others. I cant believe these people! These music companies have made millions of dollars by collaborating with us, with Neil but now when we need them, all of them are just plainly saying no to release our single song." Mickey vent out his frustration.

"All of them are just fair weather friends. They didnt mind when Neil was making controversies, they were signing albums with him and now when he is a changed man and he has made an honest attempt, they are refusing to back it up. Typical selfish entertainment industry." Mini participated in the rant too.

"Come on now, we cant blame them entirely. I mean, by all means, I was one pain in the ass for them. My reckless behaviour, my breach of contract, unprofessional attitude have made me see this day. After that incident on stage my popularity is all time down now. We cant expect them to invest their money in me again." Neil accepted his mistakes.

"But you came out clean from that mess. Your interview have garnered support from your fans all over the world. People still love you, they want to hear you again." Mini reminded him of his fight against himself to be a better person.

"Ya, but by same interview everyone got to know that I was admitted to rehabilitation center, that I had depression and people might be interested to hear me sing again but then it doesnt guarantee music companies and producers that I';; at my best behavior and wont be back to same old ways. They are apprehensive." Neil again tried to think rationally without getting offended that music labels who were dying to work with him now all saying no because none of them wanted to be a part of some controvery.

"Stop being too nice now. I am telling you these people are just selfish...." Mini was getting angry but she couldnt complete her sentence as Arya interrupted her.

"Veerbalika is right but we dont need them. We can release our song without them." Arya suggested.

"Without them yes but it will take time, if we dont collaborate with any music label then we'll have to launch our own label and its a long process. I dont want to wait anymore. Its been already too long and I want to release the song before the hype fizzle out." Mickey made his point.

"Who says we have to make our own label. I mean we will make it in the long run if situation arises but till then this our one single song can be released direct online on platforms like youtube and other similar sites. We can also collaborate with independent music apps and release directly on it." Arya suggested the new age marketing style.

"What! Release our single like some newcomers or strugglers?" Mickey was apprehensive.

"Why not? In fact its a great idea. See, Neil came out to give that interview because he wanted to be honest. Now it will be a great move to mark your second innings, new journey of this new changed Neil and whats better way then to start humbly. Be honest about it why you are choosing this medium and it will also reach to larger audience. I can work a whole PR strategy around it." Mini pitched her idea and everyone liked it.

"If you believe it will work then I think we should give it a try." Mickey agreed.

"We have to give a name to it. If previous Neil's aura was negative then lets give something positive sounding, something new but yet having reminiscence of old talent of Neil...something...like..hmm..." Mini was thinking of something when Neil said it.

"Reborn"

All turned towards him and instantly liked the theme.

"Wow! Its perfect." Mini complimented,

"It has to be. Its truth of my life after all. The old angsty, frustrated, druggy, angry Neil died on that hospital bed. After that your love has given me second life. I feel like I have reborn to live my dream with you." Neil explained his idea.

"And we all are proud of you. I think we should start working on it. I am calling our team and you guys work on the song." Mini declared and everyone got busy in their work.

"Neil, just check out the views on our song. Arya's idea for the video was superb. Our song has crossed 10 millions views in just one day of launch. And its been dowloaded and its been downloaded 5 lakhs times...its a record in itself!" Mickey yelled as he came into their office. Their song proved to be huge hit. It was already leading all the countdowns.

"God! I cant believe people loving me so much. Thanks both of you. Tum logo ne mujhe bhi star bana diya." Arya shared her excitement.

"All because of your talent and hard work." Neil ruffled her hair and Mini hugged her.

They were celebrating their success when Mickey got a call. He excused himself to talk and when he came back later his excitement had increased 10 times.

"You wont believe. Abhi se sare music companies ke phone aa rahe hain. They are offering album contracts again. Koi bol raha hai concert plan karo. Koi bol raha hai another fusion song record karo....they all again begging for it."

"Dont worry, I'll handle them with our legal team." Mini assured.

"Aur ek call aur aaya tha...." Mickey then added further.

"Kiska? Aise suspense kyu bana rahe ho?" Neil rolled his eyes.

"Actually wo...our friends and other band members...I mean ex band members Bobby, Preet, Jazz.ka." Mickey informed.

"What do they want now?" Mini asked getting angry as she remembered what all false allegations they have put on Neil.

"They were saying sorry. They said they are regretting it now. Bobby even confessed that they were being greedy and insecure of Neil's popularity. They wanted to take the credit of band's hit songs by claiming them as their." Mickey continued.

"Haan to ab kya ho gaya?" Mini questioned.

"Alag hone ke baad se they are working regularly but none of their song has been a hit. They are also facing criticism after your interview and music companies are not willing to work with them after so many flops." Mickey answered.

"Ye achha hai. Jab bura samay Neil ka tha to sath chhod diya aur ab jab unka bura samay hai to phir se Neil se judna chahte hain. I can never forgive them for what they did." Mini declared.

Mickey was about to turn and go to inform them but Neil stopped him. "Ek kaam kar, sham ko song ki success party mein bula le sabko. Baith kar baat karenge."

"Neil...but why..." Mini tried to stop him but he made her sit. "Relax! sit down and dont stress yourself, its not good for your health. He knew Mini was upset with the allegations they put on him. But he wanted to forgive them and make amends. He gestured Mickey and Arya to give them some time alone and they left.

"Why you invited them...you know na...": Mini tried to explain but Neil hushed her.

"I know, they tried to malign my reputation further but if I'll be honest then I provoked them to do all that in the first place. I was also hurt when they stoop to mudslinging but then I never cared to address their insecurities previously and yes, I did cause lot of financial, legal harm to the band and their image as well. I too have made mistakes, if I could have the second chance then why cant they?" Neil explained.

"Ya...but..." Mini was still doubtful.

Neil made her look into his eyes. "When I was young, I met these people and together we dreamt of making band, pursuing music as career. My oldest memory of my passion for music is associated with them. We were friends...best buddies....we have made some of the best songs together."

"Okay, fine. If you say so but tell them clearly, if they said anything against you again then I will bring my claws and scratch their faces." Mini warned in fake anger while Neil laughed at her cute expressions.

"I love you my wild kitty." Neil said before capturing her lips.

Mini immediately melted in his arms forgetting all her worries.
