There is a lot of pathos in Basit's character. In Ayesha's as well but in the case of Basit is more difficult to understand his vulnerabilities.
How his character will evolve that will be interesting to watch.

Not sharing the Fuchsia magazine review for Habs because I find their attitude to reviewing the characters very problematic. I am a proud feminist myself. However, that does not mean I attack a character for the way it behaves without taking into consideration the reasons why the character behaves in a particular way in a particular situation. You need to understand that in this drama the characters have been crafted in a very realistic fashion where their behaviour is shaped not only by what is happening immediately in that scene but rather the entire situation that the character is in. Anyway...
What do they have to say? 😕
Ok I watch SH regularly since ishquia and I like the format of their show but even they say that it's their opinion , which can be diff from the audience opinion . Sometimes I feel they can't understand simple things and if they r actually watching the show .
Like salary wala scene ..aamna said basit could have given her the money saying that she can spend it anywhere blah blah..whereas he was giving it to her to hand it over to her family since she thought that they will be in trouble since ayesha isn't working anymore..
And this ke why did Ayesha have food before basit..cmon ! It's not a big deal..she cooked for him, she served him which he again condemned ke aapka kaam nahi hai ..may be she lied coz she wanted to get away ..did he want her to sit with him and have food ? It's a minor thing ..she can exercise her right at times

Yes...SH reviews have their own reading of scenes but as you said they first of all say it is their opinion and they try to understand the story and character as it is. Btw I found them discussing why Basit was smiling on seeing Ayesha with the laptop too cute as it reminded me of our own forum discussions on the same topic...hehe...that smile has made everyone go ☺️
Anyway OK back to the FUCHSIA mag interview...I don't want to annoy people who are fans of that show but I have to say this. Since marriage Basit's behaviour to Ayesha and her family has changed. He is getting angry at her, he is passing taunts to her family. And these reviewers are complaining that by showing Basit doing these things they have ruined Basit's character and the way it was initially presented. And they keep going on and on saying this. It is like they are not even trying to understand what the drama has been telling us from the first few episodes. Basit is a spoilt child. He had a lonely childhood but a very pampered one. His mother's abandonment had instilled in him the deepest hatred towards the idea of marriage. And now he has been forced into marriage. Before the marriage he still had the idea of financial ruin and collapse of his business as a factor that was constantly motivating him to get married. Once that problem was sorted he was left with the marriage he did not want. Do they think a person with such a deep seated fear for marriage will take it on like it is nothing? Anyway...don't want to say too much since it is just a review but anyway I had shared it last week but had felt they might get to understand the characters a but better in the next episode but they again started on the same vein.
BTW returning to the SH review, I liked that they noted that Basit had initially spoken to Ayesha asking for the envelope in a very loving tone...his voice at that time was carrying the warmth from the balm scene. But then the fact that she had misplaced the envelope triggers him.
And one thing I want to say about Habs is the background music and background score in general. I love the fact that it doesn't drown everything in intense music but rather has a more ambient sort of music that drops off at places leaving us with a silence that adds so much to the dialogues. In these days when the background score often cuts into dialogues, this show has a very refined and beautiful understanding of the way background music should be used in filmmaking.

Yeah mostly directors remains behind the camera. Only few directors are famous and call for interviews.
True.. and our Habs director saheb also comes on the screen so it is easier for us to crush over him 🤪
But seriously, that interview of his was so good and am so glad FUCHSIA mag took that interview.
specially the guitar version . It played , when Basit watches Ayesha , after he forms a deal with her greedy mother 😋😋😋😋😋Originally posted by: twerping

Soothing and romantic🥰

Also the music playing when Basit walks up to Soha during that engagement party...it was an electric guitar sort of tune and that was also great...
our director saheb ka andaaz hi kuch alag sa hai...
Dropping by to leave another comment...the tiny details in the way this show depicts the progression of relationships keep making me Things really changed in the way Sadia interacted with Ayesha after she find out that Ayesha married Basit to return a favour he had once done her. There used to be just the slightest annoyance on her face and coldness in her voice initially when Sadia would speak to Ayesha which completely disappeared after she finds out the truth.
Sadia with Ayesha
Sadia reminding her bahu that she needs to behave like a bride-to-be.

Sadia tells Ayesha that she is no longer Basit's P.A.

Sadia is slightly annoyed that Ayesha is considering continuing her job as Basit's P.A.
Do you guys think Soha will return to Basit and Ayesha's life at some point? Her course on "Art and Culture" was a short-term 6 months long course, so will Soha come back in the future?
oh yeah , i know Pak dramas are incomplete without ow and om fiasco 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆Originally posted by: twerping
