Imlie has too much respect for Aryan, I would say. She really had believed he was Dhruvtara and invulnerable to human failings like despair or slip of tongue or losing his temper. If she had thought of him as a mere mortal, she would have understood where he was coming from and then maybe, she would have known to stay until they both calmed down and then make a decision.
