🏏India Vs West Indies - 2nd T20I at Warner Park in Basseterre at 10PM IST🏏
Will India's new T20 machine spring another surprise in St Kitts?
Rohit and his management have not been shy of thinking outside the box in the run up to the T20 World Cup
With a 1-0 lead in West Indies' favoured format, India will travel to St Kitts & Nevis with the upper hand, looking to consolidate on their rather flattering record over the hosts in the shortest format. It's a venue India will be playing at for the first time when the second T20I kicks off on Monday (August 1) at Warner Park. But they have the momentum from a comprehensive 68-run win in the opening fixture.
West Indies were not just outdone by India in the batting, bowling or fielding department, but also in terms of team selection. India opted for three spinners, while West Indies played just one - Akeal Hosein, who returned 1-14 in his four overs. Whereas, India's trio of Ravi Bishnoi, R Ashwin - who returned to the T20 set-up - and Ravindra Jadeja, shared five wickets between them.
There were further errors that cost West Indies, as Nicholas Pooran pointed out. Suryakumar Yadav was dropped by Kyle Mayers on 10, Rohit Sharma was offered freebies by Alzarri Joseph, continuing to bowl short pacey deliveries that were punished, Jason Holder failed to execute the yorkers in the death and they never got going in the chase.
PS: This match has been delayed by two hours due to some logistical issues following "significant delays in crucial team luggage arriving into St Kitts from Trinidad", where the first T20I was played. The match, which was expected to start at 10.30am local time [8pm IST], will now start at 12.30pm local time [10pm IST].
